The Evaluation Committee will hold meetings once a month in the next three months to resolve with agility the applications submitted and facilitate the immediate incorporation of artists and creatives.
The Barracks will provide artists with tools, space and materials for the production of their works and projects
The City Council will give life to the Artillery Barracks, recently renovated, with a program of artistic residences whose public call has already been launched.
In this way, this cultural space, located in the Carmen neighborhood, will become a nursery of talent and creativity.
The Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, explained that "with this initiative we seek to support the creation and production in different artistic, cultural, environmental or educational disciplines while enhancing the reflection and development of social innovation projects susceptible of experimentation and implantation in the municipality of Murcia, favoring the encounter, learning and dialogue between Murcian creators and from all over the world. "
The call will be open all year so that at any time artists can submit their projects as the Committee will evaluate in all its meetings all requests received since the previous meeting.
The bases, which have been drafted according to the criteria and contributions made by the members of the Advisory Council, establish that they may participate in this call, which can be consulted on the municipal website www.murcia.es or the Artillery Barracks www .cuartelmurcia.es, individuals, groups, research groups or companies of any nationality or place of residence provided they are over 18 years.
This initiative encompasses two types of projects.
On the one hand, Artistic and Creative Production Projects based on current cultural models, experimentation, innovation, education and science in all its disciplines (performing arts, visual, plastic, technology, robotics ...).
On the other, they include Citizen Laboratory Projects, which are those related to research, production and entrepreneurship for neighborhood projects or territorial structuring based on citizen participation, which address challenges related to coexistence in urban environments such as, for example, childhood in the city, mobility, street play, quality of life, loneliness, care networks, cultural diversity, the memory of the city or any other topic that is interesting for its development and implementation in the town.
The duration of the residences will be established taking into account the time necessary for the development of the approved project, and may have a maximum duration of one year.
The Barracks may extend or end their duration depending on the needs of the center and the viability of the project.
To register for the call, those interested will have to send to the email address info@cuartelmurcia.es, the duly completed application, their project and proposal of activities, the curriculum vitae or artistic dossier and the national identity document, passport, CIF or other documents proving the identity of the applicants.
Participants may be convened by the Valuation Committee to explain the project in greater detail and clarify the issues that arise.
All the works presented will be studied by a Valuation Committee that will evaluate the viability and coherence of the project, the originality and innovation, the curriculum vitae and artistic dossier, the proposal of activities, workshops or meetings to be developed during the period of residence, the capacity to create networks of collaboration and participation with groups that develop their work in the municipality of Murcia, whether educational, cultural or social, and the scalability, mobility and possible continuity of the project after the end of the period of residence, being able to reverse its impact on other environments of the municipality
This Valuation Committee will be formed by members of the City Council of Murcia with experience in the cultural and creative field, as well as mentors of recognized experience in cultural, artistic and scientific matters of the national field.
Although the bases establish that this Committee will meet at least 4 times a year, in this project start-up they will hold meetings once a month in the next three months to resolve with agility the applications that are submitted and facilitate immediate incorporation of artists and creatives to the Barracks.
In addition, the Valuation Committee will pay special attention to the Carmen neighborhood, ensuring that at least one project that has a special relationship with it is developed each year.
The resolution of the call will be notified to the selected people and will be published on the Barracks website.
The selected applicants will formalize with the City of Murcia the corresponding agreement of acceptance of the residence within a maximum period of fifteen calendar days from when the award is notified.
Thus, the City Council will provide a space for the development of the project in the barracks of the Barracks, or in any of the associated spaces when it is more convenient for the characteristics of the project and the activity to be developed, it will facilitate tools, space and the acquisition of material resources depending on the needs of each of the projects and the economic availability of the Center, and will accompany the participants to document the projects and publish the results, promoting the dissemination of the knowledge produced during the process.
Likewise, conceptual, technical and methodological advice will be offered, a digital platform will be made available to the working groups as an open repository to house the resulting projects, documentation and prototypes and visibility will be given to the projects.
All residents who successfully complete the residency program will be granted a nominative certificate.
