The PSOE again denounces deficiencies in buses: overcrowding on the Sangonera la Verde line and students who do not get to exams (10/01/2020)

The Socialist Municipal Group has denounced dozens of times the serious deficiencies of public transport in the municipality.

Far from solving all those problems that the users themselves denounce, they expand or even become chronic, as Councilman Juan Vicente Larrosa says.

An example of this is "the crowding of travelers on line 28, which links Sangonera la Verde and Murcia, of course the images that are coming to us represent a genuine mistreatment of the neighbors."

Larrosa notes that this complaint is not new and, apparently, is caused by the elimination of buses during Christmas that have not been replaced.

"It is sad that, suffering episodes of pollution that last for days, a brave bet is not made and decided to have quality transport, agile and at reasonable prices. Far from that, it is punished with overcrowding, few frequencies and expensive tickets to travelers who continue trusting their transfers to buses and who avoid other residents of the municipality higher levels of pollution by not using private vehicles. "

"To make matters worse, we are calling Customer Service to find out the reasons for suppressing buses and not picking up the phone. Not only do they not provide service, nor explanations," said the councilor, who also points out that "the residents of the municipality have lost a golden opportunity, because the concession to LAT has been extended again a little less than two months ago without asking the company for the necessary and urgent improvement that the service needs. "

In addition, "if the service depended exclusively on the City of Murcia, there would be more possibilities of giving immediate solution to the problems that arise, but as long as it depends on the Community, the failures will be repeated constantly."

In this regard, he warns that "investment in transport, both by the City Council and the Autonomous Community, is insufficient to alleviate the mobility needs of our municipality that causes citizens to have to be crammed into buses or stay in the stops".

However, line 39 also presents problems, which links the Espinardo Campus with Murcia and, therefore, the users are students with a teaching and exam schedule that in many occasions throughout the course is mortgaged by the frequency of the bus.

"In a meeting with representatives of the students of the University of Murcia we came to denounce that there have been cases of classmates who have not arrived in time for their exams, and of course this can not be consented," explains Larrosa.

"In addition, when the exams begin the frequencies change, going from 20 to 30 minutes and, in addition, the first bus leaves at 7.30h, so with 29 stops it is impossible to reach the campus at 8.00" the concilor.

"We have said it more than once, as long as Murcia does not have a decent and quality public transport it will not be a modern municipality, it will not reduce its pollution levels, it will not have a balanced and connected territory and it will not have equal citizens, because there is a serious discrimination with those who live in distant districts, whose medical appointments, administrative or labor and educational commitments depend on a transport that should be impeccable for many years. It is the great pending issue of the municipality. "

He insists that transport in Murcia "cannot be worse or on purpose, and worse, encourages the use of the private car, so stay with your arms crossed and we have seen that it does not give any results, the municipal and regional government teams must definitely face the existing problem, "and stresses that" the deficiencies that are detected daily mainly affect groups that have to meet a schedule, Sangonera women who come to work in Murcia and students who have to go to class.
