More than 400,000 people have passed this year through the Christmas Tree of the Circular Square (07/01/2020)

This space in the city center has become a meeting point with concerts, workshops and activities for the whole family.

More than 50,000 people attended the ignition, which took place on December 8, under the name 'Follow your Star', with a show of light, snow, fireworks and live performances.

From the solidarity point, more than 4,000 gifts have been collected, a figure higher than last year, for the neediest children.

More than 400,000 people have passed through the Great Christmas Tree during these weeks.

The space of the Circular Plaza has become a meeting point with concerts, dance, Christmas workshops and craft activities to enjoy with the family.

The City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, directed by José Guillén, has organized more than 120 cultural events, from December 8 to January 5.

Specifically, more than 50,000 people attended the lighting of the Tree, which took place on December 8, under the name 'Follow your Star', with a light show, snow, fireworks and live performances and with Chenoa, as godmother .

The epicenter of the city has had several musical performances of different styles: the flamenco of Curro Piñana;

rock with Al Dual;

the pop of Los Happys and Ciudad Canalla;

the blues of Santi Campillo;

and the different corals such as Discantus, Orfeón Fernández Caballero, San Buenaventura, Alfonso X, corals from different schools;

traditional music with the Cuadrilla de Patiño or the Federation of Peñas Huertanas;

jazz with Christmas Crooner;

and Animal Christmas Sound techno.

Among the workshops, those of Christmas ornaments, planting trees, preparing the New Year's Eve party, cooking workshops, where the children have learned to make from the Christmas cookies to the traditional Roscón de Reyes, in addition to storytelling, various shows and children's games.

These actions have had a daily participation of around 2,000 attendees.

Solidarity point

The Murcian children have once again shown their solidarity and generosity.

More than 4,000 toys have been collected this year, a figure higher than last Christmas, through the solidarity point located in the Christmas Tree, as well as the initiative carried out by Regional Wave last Sunday, December 29.

The donated toys were delivered to Cáritas, the Educa Association, the Fundación Secretariado Gitano, the Fundación CEPAIM and Accem, entities that in turn were in charge of distributing them to the little ones that need it most.

School visits

Around 1,800 boys and girls from 22 neighborhood schools and neighborhoods have also visited the epicenter of the city, such as the Christmas Tree, to enjoy the activities scheduled for these dates.

Schoolchildren have attended origami workshops and made Christmas decorations.

In addition, they have had the opportunity to plant a tree, write their letter to the Magi and deposit it in the Royal Mailbox.

In this way, through this initiative, the City Council has invited the students of the municipality to enjoy among their partners the activities planned before they began the Christmas holidays.
