The neighborhoods and districts face the sales with many doubts and low expectations (07/01/2020)

"While the merchants of the center defined the Christmas campaign as very good, those of districts and neighborhoods protest the opposite. We cannot allow such a great differentiation" Juan Vicente Larrosa, Socialist Councilor

Neighborhood and district residents ask Murcia City Council for formulas to boost sales also in their areas.

The year starts and the sales season begins.

A moment that many shops expect with high expectations as it serves to give a boost to the sales of their stores.

Despite the good results of the Christmas campaign in small businesses in the center of Murcia, neighborhoods and districts have not lived through the situation equally and face this campaign with many doubts and low expectations.

Juan Vicente Larrosa, socialist councilor, has expressed concern about the state of sales of small businesses in the municipality.

"While the center's merchants defined this campaign as very good, those in districts and neighborhoods complain about the opposite." Larrosa explains.

"We cannot allow such a great differentiation between the center and the neighborhoods and districts. While some had an almost constant influx of customers, others have not been able to raise the blind this year. There are many businesses that, in fact, have had to close, leaving the commercial movement of neighborhoods and districts more and more diminished ", denounces the socialist mayor.

The Socialist Municipal Group has received complaints from different neighborhood and neighborhood neighbors.

"They regret that the neighbors do not distribute their purchases through all the neighborhoods and districts of the city. People on sale always go more to the center and the shopping centers and a solution is needed that reverses this situation and revitalizes the commercial fabric of neighborhoods and districts, "Larrosa denounces.

From the City Council, public transport should be encouraged to bring neighbors closer to the shops of our neighborhoods and districts since in recent years we have seen how it has been favored towards the large areas instead of favoring proximity trade .

"We think that it is necessary to apply a battery of formulas that cover sales in all neighborhoods and districts. We must support the retail trade that generates jobs and wealth in neighborhoods and districts," says Juan Vicente Larrosa.

"It is important to create commercial centers in neighborhoods and districts, not only in the center. How? There are many ways to achieve this. We propose, for example, the pedestrianization and revitalization of central streets," Larrosa says.

"The creation of fairs or outlets encourage neighbors to go outside and generate movement," Larrosa proposes.

"We also have to improve and fix the supply places, reducing the rates and deadlines established to open positions."

"In addition, we demand the convening of the Local Commerce Council, which is the body that must be in charge of finding solutions to problems of traditional commerce such as the freedom of schedules, unfair competition from large stores, or the modernization and digitalization of sales, between others. ", explains Juan Vicente Larrosa.

"Finally, we believe that we must also take into account how to include traditional trade in gastronomic, cultural, tourist strategies ...", concludes the councilor.
