The Magi from the East will parade through Murcia this Sunday in a Cavalcade that will have the cinema as a thread (03/01/2020)

The grand parade, consisting of more than 70 elements, will start at 6 pm, on San Juan de la Cruz Avenue, and will feature the mascot of Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy.

Charles Chaplin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and the Wizard of Oz are some of the themes that will surprise in the Cavalcade.

The mayor of Murcia will receive His Majesties the Magi in the City Hall this Sunday morning, where a reception will be held to families in the Plenary Hall.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, the Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, and the Councilor for Citizen Security and Economic Management, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, presented this morning the elements that make up the Cavalcade of the Three Wise Men 2020, which will be held this Sunday, at 6 pm, and that will feature the mascot of Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2020.

Like last year, the Cavalcade of the Kings of Murcia presents a theme that unifies it, being this time the film the main thread, “because it represents what awaits us in Murcia in 2020: a year of cinema as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy â€, Said José Ballesta.

One of the main novelties of the great parade is the incorporation of the mascot of Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy, which will appear after the Majorettes Twirling de Monteagudo, who will open the parade.

This group of athletes won the title of world champions in the Grand Prix in August in the French city of Limoges.

In addition, as in 2020 gastronomy will play a central role in Murcia, the parade will include the coal miners, characters who will be responsible for distributing sweet coal.

Also, for the first time, a large iron horse will ride through the streets of the Murcian capital, more than 6 meters long, 4.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.

The Federation of Peñas Huertanas will also participate in the Cavalcade, whose float will represent the carpentry workshop in San José.

From Charles Chaplin to Pirates of the Caribbean

On this occasion, among groups, groups and floats, more than 70 elements will participate in the Cavalcade, which will be starred, among others, by Ballets of Mary Poppins, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and Charly and the Chocolate Factory.

Reference will also be made to the classics, such as the silent films of the master Charles Chaplin and the characters of Charlot.

In addition, Star Wars characters will participate, the most famous superheroes, Indiana Jones, there will be an ET float, another of the Wizard of Oz ...

For its part, the poster announcing the Cavalcade will represent a movie theater with its screen and armchairs, as well as with the figures of the statuettes of the Oscar and the Goya.

Following, the theme of the parade, more than 5,000 bags of tostones will be distributed.

The floats, 12 meters long, have been manufactured exclusively for the parade.

Each King will parade accompanied by his herald and a ballet

Like last year, the Magi will have a herald, who will precede them in the parade and will be in charge of telling the families who enjoy the Cavalcade the story of Their Majesties of the East.

On this occasion, the representatives are José Ignacio Sánchez Ballesta, president of the Royal and Very Illustrious Cabildo Superior de Cofradías, who will be King Melchor;

Chef Pablo González-Conejero, chef of La Cabaña, where he has revalidated his two Michelin Stars, who will represent King Gaspar;

and the singer Vicente Alberto Sopale, artistically known as Vince, winner of CreaMurcia 2017 in the Other Trends modality - recognition he achieved for his rap - which will be King Baltasar.

Likewise, each King will have his own ballet.

The Christmas Star will also participate in the parade, which will be represented by Candela Sánchez, Children's Queen of La Huerta 2019, as well as the Honor Page, which will be the 2019 Moros y Cristianos Children's Flag, Rocío González.

The three axes of the parade

Specifically, the Cavalcade is divided into three parts.

The first corresponds to the theme chosen, this time the cinema.

In the second, the associations, groups and companies that have collaborated and wanted to participate in the event will participate, keeping the spirit of the chosen thread.

Finally, the third part will correspond to the Boato de los Reyes Magos.

The itinerary will begin on San Juan de la Cruz Avenue and will cross Mozart streets, Torre de Romo, Hermanos Cerón, Alameda de Colón, Plaza Camachos, Plaza Martínez Tornel, Gran via Salzillo and Avenida de la Constitución.

Upon completion, the Kings will go to the municipal Bethlehem, where they will make a symbolic offering, with the performance of the children's and youth sections of the Murcia Orfeón Fernández Caballero.

A 'parking' for carriages

This Sunday, January 5, at 12:30 pm, the mayor of Murcia will receive His Magi the Magi at the City Hall of Murcia, where a reception will also be held for all children in the Plenary Hall.

To avoid agglomerations in this reception, the City of Murcia will enable in La Glorieta a free 'parking' for carriages, in which families can leave the strollers of the little ones.

It will remain open from 12 noon to 3 pm.

3,000 portions of roscón

Murcia will host this Sunday other activities related to the arrival of His Majesties the Magi, such as the distribution of the Roscón, at 10 am, at the Glorieta, where 3,000 rations will be given.

At 11 am, the children's musical show 'Waiting for the Magi' will be held.

Special safety device

On the occasion of the traditional Three Kings Cavalcade, a special Local Police security device will be deployed, from 6 pm until the end of the event.

For the normal development of the service, a total of 100 Police and 22 Civil Protection volunteers will be available.

Regarding traffic, the following measures will be taken:

-Pza.

Circular: The traffic coming from Avda. De Primo de Rivera to Ronda de Levante will reverse the direction of the traffic.

-C / Cartagena: For residents of the area exit will be enabled by C / Gracia towards C / Floridablanca.

-The circulation of vehicles of more than 3,500 kg is prohibited, from 10 am to 11 pm in the following streets of the town center: Avda. Cyclist Mariano Rojas, Avda. Miguel de Cervantes, Avda. De los Pinos, Almirante Loaysa , Kingdom of Valencia, Kingdom of Murcia, Avda. Miguel Indurain, Avda. De los Dolores, Ronda Sur, exits 140 A. and B., exits 141, 142 and 143, exits 144 A. and B. They will be exempted from this prohibition Vehicles intended for public passenger transport.

-In the avda.

Tram Schedule

On January 5 the service will be the usual one for a holiday, with frequencies of 20 minutes from 10:00 hours.

Throughout the day, during which the Three Kings Parade takes place, the service will be reinforced after approximately 11 hours, with frequencies between 10 and 15 minutes.

On the occasion of the Three Kings Cavalcade, the service will be interrupted in the Circular Plaza, between the Plaza Circular and Juan Carlos I stops, starting at 5:30 p.m. and until approximately 9:30 p.m.

Partial services will be established in the sections between Plaza Circular - Estadio NN.CC.

and Juan Carlos I-University of Murcia.

At the end of the Cavalcade, the service will be reinforced until the opening of the circulation through the Circular Square, at which time the tram will return to the scheduled frequency, from 30 minutes until the end, at 00:00 hours (last tram leaving from the New Condomina Stadium stop).

Thus, the last tram along Pza. Circular in the direction of Universities will pass at 00:19 hours and in the direction of Nueva Condomina Stadium at 00:58 hours.

The schedule at the Shuttle will be set for Sundays and holidays.

In this way, the last tram from Los Rectores-Terra Natura in the direction of UCAM will leave at 22:35.

In the opposite direction, from UCAM-Los Jerónimos in the direction of Los Rectores-Terra Natura, it will leave at 22:55.
