Algezares celebrates the fourth edition of its San Silvestre next Saturday (23/12/2019)

The districts of Algezares and Cobatillas say goodbye to the year 2019 with the traditional San Silvestre race that they will celebrate next weekend.

The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, presented this morning the sports events with the president of the Municipal Board of Algezares, Juan José Garre, and Cobatillas, Paco Fenoll.

The Municipal Board of Algezares de Murcia, in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, organizes the IV San Silvestre Algezareña 2019 on Saturday, December 28, at 4:00 p.m., with departure and finish from Rosaleda Street, to the height of the mayor's office.

It will be an urban route with different distances for different audiences.

Thus, the adult race will consist of approximately 5,400 meters for senior, veteran and local categories, in both male and female modalities.

Children can participate in four races, according to age: from 0 to 5 years, the route will be 300 meters;

from 6 to 8 years old, 600 meters;

from 9 to 12 years, 1,000 meters;

and from 13 to 17 years old, 1,600 meters.

There will be trophies to the top three classified of each senior and veteran category, as well as in the local category and the best costume.

In the children's races, medals will be awarded to the first three to arrive, but also to all participating children.

Those interested can register in person on the same day after 2 pm.

Sunday, in Cobatillas

Cobatillas will celebrate this year's first edition of its San Silvestre.

It will be Sunday, December 29, at 10:00 a.m., with departure and finish at San Roque Avenue, next to the Church.

The route, which can be done running, skating or walking, will have different modalities: 5 kilometers for people 13 years or older;

1.5 kilometers for children between 8 and 12 years old;

250 meters for 7 years or less;

10 kilometers for skaters, 13 years or older;

250 meters for skaters, 7 years old or younger;

and a walking march for audiences of all ages.

The San Silvestre de Cobatillas will have prizes for the top three classified in each category, as well as the best participant costume, the oldest and youngest.
