The University of Murcia has manufactured two large Christmas trees, one on the La Merced campus and another at the Espinardo campus Social Center, with the material collected in the campaign to collect plastic bags that began in the month of November.
This initiative of the Vice-Rectorate for Infrastructure Planning and the environmental management system of the Sustainable Campus consisted in encouraging the university community to exchange single-use plastic bags for reusable cloth ones in order to reflect on the generation of waste and raise awareness about the importance of changing consumer habits for the Christmas holidays.
The University of Murcia is sensitive to the climatic emergency and, in particular, to the global problem caused by pollution derived from the consumption of plastic.
Therefore, aware of his work as a teaching institution and social reference, he feels the responsibility of promoting environmental awareness actions aimed at the university community.
