The City of Transport inaugurates a fast charging point for electric vehicles within the Cirve project (17/12/2019)

The City of Transportation in Murcia now has a fast charging point for electric vehicles.

This action is part of the European CIRVE project which, under the acronym 'Iberian Corridors of Infrastructure for Fast Charging of Electric Vehicles', aims to connect the Iberian Peninsula with the rest of the countries of the European Union.

The Councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, and the Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, presented this morning this fast charging point at Froet-Gas, in the Industrial Estate West of San Ginés, next to the secretary General of FROET, Manuel Pérezcarro, and the Director of Sustainable Development of the Etra Group and responsible for Electric Mobility, Carlos Carmona, a company that has promoted this installation within the Cirve project.

The project includes the installation of a total of 40 fast recharging points in Spain, of which 25 will be new and 15 others that are already in operation in certain strategic locations of the Iberian corridors will be adapted.

The initiative is consorted by cargo managers IBIL (project leader), EDP, ENDESA, GIC and IBERDROLA, together with the AEDIVE Association and two other international partners: RENAULT and the Center for Excellence and Innovation of Portugal, CEIIA.

“The City Council of Murcia collaborates in this European project, together with the Spanish Ministries of Development and Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, an initiative co-financed through the 2015 call of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

Specifically, the project has a budget of 3,523,232 euros and is 50% funded by the EU, â€explains Mercedes Bernabé.

The new charging point is valid for all electric vehicles.

Users can operate by downloading the free GIC IOS and Android app at 0.45 euros per kW.

It should be noted that the electricity supplied at the charging points comes exclusively from 100% renewable certified energy sources.

Councilor Antonio Navarro stressed that "electric vehicles represent an important environmental benefit for our city and that is why we work, as one of our main lines of action, in promoting this type of mobility. Electric cars are an environmentally capable bet to restore the air of our cities and minimize noise. "
