Huermur reproaches that the route of the AVE to Murcia is destroying part of the ditch network (16/12/2019)

Neighbors of the Camino de Tiñosa alarmed at the presence of heavy machinery in this garden area, have informed Huermur of these actions that have been carried out from the early morning in this channel of the traditional irrigation network.

Huermur regrets that the political leaders of the Region of Murcia and the municipality chose an erroneous layout for the arrival of the AVE, an infrastructure that had to arrive through the dry land area in the north of the municipality in parallel to the A-7 motorway.

The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and Heritage of Murcia (Huermur) denounces the destruction of a section of the historic Alguazas ditch that is being filled with dozens of land trucks coming from the AVE works to Murcia, and reproaches that The route of the AVE to Murcia is destroying much of the traditional irrigation network of the garden of Murcia, its landscape, and the natural legacy involved.

Neighbors of the Camino de Tiñosa in Murcia alarmed at the presence of heavy machinery and a large transfer of trucks in this area of the garden next to the Alguazas ditch, have informed Huermur of these actions that have been carried out from the early morning in this channel of the traditional irrigation network, and that are consisting of the filling of the ditch with lands extracted from the AVE works.

Given this situation, Huermur has requested by registration both ADIF and the City of Murcia information and documentation in this regard, as well as indicating the reason for these questionable and reprehensible actions in the Alguazas ditch, and if they conform to the law valid.

Huermur deeply regrets that the political leaders of the Region of Murcia and the municipality chose an erroneous route for the arrival of the AVE to the capital, an infrastructure that had to arrive through the dry area of the north of the municipality, parallel to the A motorway -7 and with the freight and passenger stations in the Nueva Condomina area.

Thus avoiding the current route through the orchard of Murcia and its flood areas, with the serious repercussions that this is already taking in view of the latest rains and floods, in addition to the destruction of much of the fertile soils of the garden, the network of ditches the area, and the creation of a huge scar that divides the valley in two from East to West.
