The Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, presented this morning the interdisciplinary exhibition 'Mar & Plastics.
Artists for the Environment 'hosted by the Artistic Laboratory of Carmen until January 14.
The exhibition includes works of photography, video, sculpture, music, painting, literature and intervened objects that arise from the concern of a group of artists from the Region of Murcia for the environment and, in particular, for the Mar Menor.
On October 27, fifty artists (painters, sculptors, musicians, actors, poets ...) gathered at the mouth of the Rambla de El Beal in the Mar Menor, to show their concern about the situation of the salt lagoon and contribute to collect waste and disseminate everyone's responsibility in caring for the environment, and ask society to avoid dumping waste and plastics.
At the mouth of the promenade, located between Los Urrutias and Los Nietos, participants performed various performances, ephemeral art, poetry recitals, concerts and a collection of garbage and plastics that had been dragged by DANA and were still scattered around Beach.
The action had two fundamental parts: On the one hand the artists collected the equivalent of a whole truck of waste, mainly plastic and wood, which dragged the floods towards the beach, and on the other, they carried out several ephemeral art actions that have been documented and photographed
With the photographs, videos, drawings and part of the intervened objects, this exhibition has been set up that mixes art and commitment to a more habitable world.
Councilman Jesús Pacheco has explained that this exhibition "combines creativity and the search for beauty with respect for the environment. We intend that those who visit it assume that we all have to be responsible and careful with our environment, contributing to their care ".
