The City Council conditions the lake and the green areas of El Raal for the celebration of its Living Bethlehem (15/12/2019)

The technicians have checked the hydraulic system and removed the leaves, branches and pruning remains from the pond.

The Parks and Gardens service has carried out other improvement actions, such as the pruning of its trees or the elimination of weeds.

"We want everything to be in perfect condition and fully operational so that this Bethlehem becomes one more year one of the most visited attractions of our municipality," said the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén.

The City Council has been working intensively on the conditioning of Lake El Raal for the celebration of its Living Bethlehem, which thousands of people visit every year.

The technicians, through STVGestión, have reviewed the hydraulic system and the water network of the Belén pond.

Thus, they have repaired the injection pump and cleaned the bottom of all kinds of elements such as leaves, branches, possible pruning remains, as well as various dirt.

A team of four people, consisting of a plumber, two cleaning operators and an electrician, have been responsible for these actions.

"We want everything to be in perfect condition and fully operational so that this Bethlehem becomes one more year one of the most visited attractions of our municipality," said the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén.

Other environment improvements

In addition to the cleaning and conditioning of the lake for the celebration of the Living Bethlehem, the Parks and Gardens service, through STV-Actúa, has carried out improvement work in the surrounding green areas.

In this way, among the actions, the technicians have trimmed the hedges, pruned the mulberry trees and palm trees, as well as removed the leaflets of the woodland of the area, such as pomegranates, olive groves, elms, ficus and pines, in addition to weeds .

Christmas tourist attraction

El Raal Lake, 47 cubic meters and about 100 square meters, will once again be a meeting point for tourists and visitors.

More than 120 neighbors participate in the recreation of this Living Bethlehem, a point of tourist attraction that is already a tradition in the municipality of Murcia.

You can see the most common passages such as the Nativity, the Adoration of the Magi, the Flight from Egypt and the Palace of Herod.

The Bethlehem will open on December 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It can also be seen on December 26, 28, 29, January 1 and 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and January 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
