Commerce launches a surveillance and control campaign in grocery stores, weekly and artisan markets and supermarkets (09/12/2019)

A healthy food consumption program will also be launched through an informative campaign for consumers about the purchase, conservation and processing of perishable foods and a day on 'Food and Healthy Consumption' which will be this Thursday, December 11 in the lounge of acts of Moneo

The Department of Commerce, Markets and Public Road launches a surveillance and control campaign, facing the Christmas holidays, in the grocery stores, weekly and craft markets, self-services, supermarkets and large areas of the municipality of Murcia.

To do this, 160 retail stalls will be visited in the eight municipal supply squares, 450 stalls in the 53 weekly markets, about 100 self-services, supermarkets and large stores located in the municipal district of Murcia, as well as craft markets with sale of typical products Christmas

In this sense, the mayor of Commerce, Markets and Public Way, Juan Fernando Hernández, explained that "with this special Christmas campaign we want to increase inspections in establishments that sell food to verify that food safety requirements are met in facilities, the sanitary quality of perishable food products, as well as their correct information regarding the expiration and addiction of food additives, in order to avoid food intolerances and allergies ".

Conference on "Food and Healthy Consumption"

Following the commitment of the Department for healthy food consumption, next Wednesday, December 11, the auditorium of the Moneo building will host the Conference on "Food and Healthy Consumption".

There will be two conferences, one of them on "Healthy Eating. Myths and realities", by Dr. Juan Madrid Conesa;

and another on "Interpretation of food labeling" that will be given by Dr. María Jesús Periago, through a workshop where the search for the labeling of hidden sugars and saturated fats will be deepened.

Campaign: "This Christmas, safe food"

Likewise, the Department, within the program of healthy food consumption, will launch an informative campaign, taking advantage of the Christmas holidays, under the slogan "This Christmas, safe food".

Diptychs will be distributed in different food establishments with advice to the consumer about the purchase, conservation, processing and consumption of food, especially perishables, in order to avoid possible food infections.

Among the recommendations are:

The refrigerator must be kept between 0 and 5ºC.

Isolate food before storing it in the refrigerator using containers with a lid, foil or plastic film for food use.

You should never put raw and cooked food together.

Fish, crustaceans and meat must be labeled with detailed product information (origin, method of production, breeding and slaughter, preservatives, among other aspects).

Food should not be re-frozen, dishes should be prepared just before consumption and stuffed poultry and products made from minced meat should be subjected to strong or prolonged fire.

Keep in mind that leftovers can be a source of risk.

To prevent anisakis it is recommended to cook the fish well at a temperature greater than or equal to 60 ° C for 10 minutes.

The microwave does not destroy the parasite.

In anchovies in vinegar or any other type of raw fish, freezing is recommended for at least 48 hours.
