Murcia is committed to maximum safety in children's play areas, which will be certified by a national agency (04/12/2019)

The Town Hall hosted this morning the 1st Children's Game Day of Murcia, in which a hundred professionals from all over Spain gathered.

José Ballesta: "Our goal is to provide the smallest spaces for safe play, which favor the integration of all, removing all types of barriers, and promoting coexistence."

A company specialized in security and authorized by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) will approve the children's areas of the municipality, whose certificate will be renewed every two years.

The municipality has more than 52,000 square meters of rubber surface and 550 playgrounds.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, inaugurated this morning the I Day of the Children's Game of Murcia in the Exhibition Hall of the City of Murcia, where they have met an One hundred professionals, including municipal Park and Garden technicians, companies in the sector and experts from different parts of Spain, such as Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Galicia, Valencia and Alicante, among other locations.

About 3,000 green areas and 550 children's play areas

Murcia's activity takes place in the more than 3,000 parks and gardens located in the metropolitan area and in the 60 districts that make up the almost 900 km2 of the municipality of Murcia and the almost 4 million m² of landscaped areas, which It translates into almost 9 m2 per inhabitant.

With regard to the specific area of ​​children's play, currently the municipality of Murcia has about 52,000 square meters of rubber surface and 550 children's play areas, which encompass about 3,000 elements.

This day is part of the Parks and Gardens cycle, which includes four events.

Specifically, the first one was held in June, the 'I Tree Day'.

In 2020, there will be another two days that will also bring experts from all over Spain, whose central themes will be the irrigation areas and the lawn and grasslands.

During the meeting, the CEO of the specialized security company ASES XXI, José María Fariñas, made a presentation on how children's games are certified, the methodology that states that the elements of these family spaces are safe for children.

This was just a sample of what is going to be done during the next three months in Murcia, since a company, authorized by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC), will examine the children's areas of the municipality to certify their safety, measuring the impact capacity of rubber and safety distances, among other parameters.

This certificate must be renewed every two years.

Latest trends in design and new materials

During the meeting, the topic of children's games was approached from numerous points of view, such as design, safety requirements in playgrounds, the latest global trends in the design of playgrounds and the new materials that are being used.

The presentations of the First Children's Games Day

Specifically, during the meeting there were five presentations and a round table.

The first was by the architect and illustrator of Galopín Playgrounds, Daniel Cavajal Alonso, who presented 'Play spaces.

Design and Values'.

Then, José María Fariñas, CEO of ASES XXI, spoke to discuss the security requirements and certifications in the playgrounds.

Subsequently, the manager of Spain and Italy Kompan, Mercedes Rodes, explained what are the latest trends in the design of children's games in the world.

The different materials that make up these spaces, such as pavements and wood, were also analyzed.

Raúl Vicente Salar, child psychologist of the City of Molina de Segura, spoke with a presentation on the importance of play in the development of children at an early age.

The final touch was set by a round table, moderated by the head of the Technical Office Parks and Gardens of the City of Murcia, Enrique Huelves.

The table was attended by the technician responsible for Children's Games of the City of Murcia, Miriam Montesinos, the technician responsible for Children's Games of the City of Alicante, Teresa Sempere, and the technician responsible for Children's Games of the City of Benidorm, Juan Miguel Calvo.

Murcia, world capital of parks and gardens
