The Alcantarilla and Alicante roads have a new reflective road paint (04/12/2019)

The Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth continues to develop actions to improve traffic safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

Therefore, the Alcantarilla and Alicante roads have released a road paint with reflective microspheres to offer drivers a better perception and provide this road with greater safety.

This pigment is composed of glass microspheres that allow horizontal signals to be highly reflective, improving visibility on roads when the lighting conditions are not enough.

The microspheres reflect the light in the direction from which the vehicle comes giving better visibility to the road.

In addition, this action will be extended to the El Palmar road during this week as work began on Sunday in this road.

The Department directed by Rebeca Pérez is now working, through the Traffic Service, to determine in which roads this action is necessary.

These tasks are part of the Road Signaling Improvement Plan that began last summer and thanks to which tasks have been carried out on water-cleaning and repainting of the horizontal signage of different roads in Murcia and districts.

Hydro-cleaning works have been carried out in different areas such as Pintor Pedro Flores, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Floridablanca, Miguel Hernández, Vicente Aleixandre, San Juan de la Cruz Avenue, Proclamation, Intendente Jorge Palacios Avenue, Luis Fontes Pagán Street, Pedro Martínez Conesa, Gran Vía, Avenida de la Constitución, Puerta Nueva, Huerto Pomares, San Andrés, San Antón, Pina, around José María Aroca Square, Miguel de Cervantes Avenue, Avenida de los Pinos, Mariano Rojas Cyclist, Spanish Marina Avenue, Admiral Loaysa, Acropolis Street, journalist Antonio Herrero, journalist Encarna Sánchez, and Marqués de los Vélez Avenue.

These actions are carried out with a preventive maintenance character, since the horizontal signaling (pedestrian crossings, directional arrows, symbols, lane separation lines) is subject to continuous wear due to the performance of road traffic and atmospheric elements and climatological, are those that can only be programmed throughout the year, depending on the needs.

The repainting of the horizontal signage has been developed in different districts such as El Palmar, Baños y Mendigo, La Murta, Gea and Truyols, Avileses, Alquerías, El Raal, Santa Cruz, Casillas, Los Dolores, Zarandona, Cabezo de Torres, Monteagudo, Valladolises, Lobosillo, Los Martinez del Puerto, Cabezo de la Plata, Zeneta and San Ginés.

In Murcia, this action has been carried out on Avenida Primero de Mayo, Avenida Intendente Jorge Palacios, Ronda de Garay, Paseo Teniente Flomesta, Calle Plano de San Francisco, Calle Aroca, Avenida Juan de la Cierva, Calle García Alix, Calle de San Andrés, Gran Vía, Primo de Rivera Avenue and Circular Square, among others.
