The Autonomous Community concludes the agreements signed with the City of Murcia to build the North and South coastal, and the variant of Sangonera La Verde.

The General Administration has financed since 2009 these works with 66.5 million euros and has given the municipality of Murcia a total of 73.2 kilometers of roads.

The Regional Administration culminates the fulfillment of the commitments acquired with the payment of the last annuity of the agreement, which amounts to 10 million euros, and the transfer of eight roads, totaling 35.4 kilometers, to the City of Murcia, before end the year

The General Director of Roads, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, today chaired the meeting of the commission of follow-up of this agreement with which the regional government economically endorses "the improvement of communications in the municipality of Murcia and the creation of backbone infrastructure the city that facilitates mobility and boosts the economy. "

He stressed that the construction of these infrastructures allows the municipality "to have more comfortable and safe roads, as well as to enhance territorial spreading with a belt of high capacity roads that surrounds the city."

More than 60,000 vehicles circulate on the North Coast, another 40,000 users on the South Coast, and 20,000 on the Sangonera La Verde variant. "

The director explained that "the construction of the coastal ones has supposed an important advance in the improvement of the mobility and the accessibility to the city of Murcia and the urban centers of the districts", and indicated that the works have a "high social profitability and economic ", because it benefits professionals and citizens who travel through these roads of the municipality of Murcia.

Fernández Lladó said that the construction of the 22.58 kilometers of these roads, which are part of the structuring itineraries of the region's road network, configures a meshed road structure at the service of regional development, giving access to the coast and the inside.

Specifically, it connects the northern section from the districts of El Esparragal to Cabezo de Torres and Churra, in addition to Guadalupe and La Ă‘ora, and which connects with the A-7 and the Murcia-Cartagena highway (A-30).

For its part, the southern section serves San Ginés, El Palmar, La Alberca, Santo Ángel, Algezares, and the Sangonera La Verde variant.
