The municipal technicians propose almost 70 actions for the development of the Circular Economy Strategy of the city of Murcia (01/12/2019)

The municipal technicians have proposed a total of 67 actions that could be carried out in the municipality for the development of the Circular Economy Strategy of the city of Murcia.

In addition, they have established 32 lines that are currently being made in the municipality.

These proposals have been made in the first sectorial table made by the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, which Mercedes Bernabé directs, and which seeks with this initiative to address three objectives: to identify the actions that are being developed in the municipality on circular economy, look for new opportunities and detect possible barriers to the development of this strategy.

During the meeting, six areas of action were identified, areas in which work lines can be created following a circular economy model, and which dealt with waste management, consumption, water management, sustainability of urban spaces, mobility and policies transversal.

Thus, among the proposals made, the development of sustainable public procurement conditions, the promotion of stores without containers or plastics, the promotion of the rational use of medicines, the promotion of collection points for second-hand clothes, the recycling of garbage can be highlighted. technological, promoting the compost of organic vegetable waste and the use of recycled paper, promotion of sustainable businesses, among others.

The next sectoral tables that will take place will be the business, experts and municipal political groups.

The information collected in the different meetings and the processes of public information and analysis of the available information will allow to carry out a complete diagnosis of what has already been done and what remains to be done in the field of Circular Economy at the urban level , which will be reflected in the Municipal Strategy.

The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, has indicated that "thanks to the participation of different social agents we seek to create this strategy whose ultimate goal is to turn Murcia into a sustainable municipality, optimizing resources and reusing products."
