The assembly of the Great Tree begins, which will light Murcia's Christmas on Saturday 7 (29/11/2019)

The hundreds of thousands of families that approach La Circular throughout Christmas will live unique experiences such as feeling the snow under the Great Tree, since eight machines have been installed that generate the effect of snow.

The City Council has begun work today for the assembly of the Great Christmas Tree of the City of Murcia, in the Circular Square.

"This year, the Great Tree, which has become an iconic element of Murcia's Christmas, will reach 40 meters again, a height that will last up to a thousand meters through its light projection," said Mayor José Ballesta, who reported that "the big ignition will be next Saturday, December 7, starting at 6.30 pm".

In addition, the hundreds of thousands of families that approach La Circular throughout Christmas will live unique experiences such as feeling the snow under the Great Tree, since a total of eight machines have been installed that generate the effect of the snow, as well as different smoke and cold pyrotechnics machines.

The environment of the Great Tree has heating thanks to the installation of 30 infrared plates.

"The installation has a total of 380,000 low-energy lights this year that will be turned on the first week of December in a great show of light, sound and image full of surprises that this year is called 'Follow your Star'", as confirmed by the mayor, who visited the works together with the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén.

The councilor explained that “it is a complex assembly procedure that is performed from top to bottom, with a crane of more than 30 meters.

Once the modules are mounted, they are transferred in block to the central rod that distributes the weight throughout the area of ​​the source â€.

50,300 chocolate coins and 7km of garlands

The Big Tree has, in addition to the 380,000 energy-saving lights, 110 moving light heads, 1,000 LED flash bulbs, 160 RGB LED bulbs, 4 cannons, 3D animation and 120 giant light elements.

In addition, among its decorative elements you will have 5 km of tinsel, 7 km of led garlands, 3 km of steel cable, 300 giant ornaments (6 different models), 5,300 natural floral elements, 220 luminous planters, 2 scenarios: total area 375m2 , Reyes Magos Mailbox (4m), Casa del Paje de SSMM, 50,300 chocolate coins.

The Tree environment will also feature two giant thematic areas this year with luminous elements (tree interior and exterior), 1 photocall area, 2 recreation and rest areas, as well as 5 workshop areas.

Workshops, concerts, performances and Royal Mailbox

As every year, La Circular will become the epicenter of Murcia Christmas with workshops for the whole family, concerts, children's performances and the space with the Page and the Royal Mailbox.

Among the different workshops, the following stand out: Cooking: Christmas sweets, Children's games, Crafts, Health and food, Robotics and new technologies, Environment: plant your tree.

There will be opera and lyric concerts: Opera at Christmas / Opera in New Year, Flamenco: Curro Piñana, Rock: Al Dual, Pop: Los Happys / Ciudad Canalla, Blues: Santi Campillo, Coral: Discantus / Orfeón Fdez. Caballero / San Buenaventura / UMU / Alfonso X / Schools, Traditional: Cuadrilla de Patiño / Federation of Pertones Huertanas, Jazz: Christmas Crooner, Techno: Animal Christmas Sound.

With regard to children's performances, the Big Tree will feature Puppets, Magic, Storytelling, Masterclass dance, Nickelodeon game, New Year's Eve.

The Solidarity point for collecting toys will also be enabled next to the space of the Page and Royal Mailbox.
