The PSOE manages to approve eleven motions "despite the extreme right that does not support press freedom or initiatives related to women" (28/11/2019)

The Plenary unanimously approves initiatives to repair broken down vehicles of the Police, launch social emergency housing, build a sports center in Santiago el Mayor and social center in Espinardo, to eliminate plastics from schools and so that high school students have Free transport

The Municipal Socialist Group has won the Plenary's support for the eleven motions it has presented this month, despite the fact that ultra-rightist training has refrained from initiatives to guarantee freedom of the press and those related to women.

The socialist spokesman, José Antonio Serrano, said that "we are not going to make it easy for Vox and we will not consent to any step backwards."

In this sense, the aforementioned training has not supported the proposal to recognize renowned researchers and academics in order to serve as a reference for young women who are inclined to disciplines such as Engineering or Mathematics, research or technology.

This proposal includes that the street vendor collect the names of the Murcian María Jover Carrión (first judge) and Piedad de la Cierva (scientist).

Likewise, the motions for Murcia to adhere to the Paris Declaration to eradicate AIDS and for the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women did not receive the support of ultra-rightist training, which presented a proposal on "real and effective equality between men and women, "who received the condemnation and criticism of the rest of the groups, and of which the councilwoman Teresa Franco said she was" fascist, sexist, dangerous ... ".

Nor has it supported the motion that calls for the adaptation of the street sales ordinance, which has finally been approved with the support of the rest of the political groups.

Among the motions approved unanimously, is the one presented jointly with Podemos to demand the repair of damaged Local Police vehicles and that for a simple puncture they can be parked for days in the mobile park.

In addition, it has also revealed the marathon work days of the agents, who cannot reconcile work and family life.

For Serrano, the lousy conditions in which the Local Police work "cry to heaven, and we must continue insisting to improve them for the sake of the safety of our neighbors."

On the other hand, the socialist spokesman explained that, "as policy makers, we must work daily to improve the lives of all our neighbors, and we must prioritize those who do not have the same possibilities, so we demand housing for social emergency", that must be reserved for women victims of gender-based violence, families suffering from eviction or for those affected by a catastrophe.

This motion has been approved unanimously.

Serrano wanted to insist that the residents of districts are treated by the City Council as second-class citizens given the many deficiencies in services and infrastructure.

That is why the motions for a sports hall in Santiago el Mayor, which could benefit a population of 29,000 people, and for a social center in Espinardo to serve 12,000 residents, received support from the entire plenary. "

"And, of course, a new motion on transportation cannot be lacking in this Plenary since there are hundreds of students who attend Baccalaureate or Vocational Training who urgently need decent and free buses that guarantee their attendance to class," he said.

This initiative was also approved unanimously.

Another one of the motions presented and approved unanimously looks at the one referred to reducing plastics in educational centers in order to minimize the pollution of the seas by this material so difficult to eliminate. On the other hand, the Socialist Group has voted against of the ordinance regulating activities in the public space, known as the "gorrillas", because it is still a collection measure and "it is not clear that it meets the objective of imposing fines on insolvent people," the spokesman explains.
