The Murcia Firefighters will train the placement of two new stairways in city buildings (28/11/2019)

The personnel of the Fire Extinguishing Service of the City of Murcia will train the location of two new stairways, one of 39 meters and another of 32 meters with the last articulated section, in buildings of the city

In October and November, firefighters received a course on the operation of these new vehicles, carrying out a total of 5 hours of training on basic knowledge of the vehicles and 16 hours of training on operational intervention and tactical sites.

Additionally, drivers have made tours and practices to familiarize themselves with the new vehicles.

Now, in order to get the most out of these vehicles, the Fire Service has programmed, within its daily activities, the realization of tactical sites in different buildings and areas of the city.

The objective is to train the location of this type of vehicles, assessing the location and optimal positioning to reach a certain plant or goal.

The training is carried out with templates that provide essential operational information.

For the handling of templates it is necessary to measure distances with laser to make the range estimates.

These locations will be made through the streets of Murcia and the stairways will approach the buildings to simulate what would happen in a real situation.

These maneuvers allow firefighters to acquire the necessary expertise to systematize the response in the event of an emergency.

From the Fire Department you want to convey a message of tranquility to the neighbors, since these maneuvers are operational drills for the training of personnel and do not have an emergency character.

The ladders are the vehicles of greater cost of the fleet of the service and fulfill diverse specific tasks like providing accessibility in height to carry out rescues, inspections, technical assistance or operations of fire extinguishing.

They are capable of performing all three movements simultaneously, that is, elevation or descent, deployment or withdrawal and dextrógira or levógira rotation.

In general, its vertical field of work is approximately 90º in absolute terms, typically in the range + 75º to -15º.

The deployment of the ladder sections is carried out in a linear manner, which gives it a relatively quick response time to reach its maximum height.

The importance of this vehicle lies in its geometric field of work, which is mechanically limited by the laws of physics.

Therefore, an inappropriate location or positioning may render the autoscaler completely inoperative for the entrusted mission.

The tactical location of these vehicles is based on choosing the optimal positioning for a type scenario, before starting the deployment, evaluating the possibilities of the machine with the existing conditions.

An optimal location is one that allows to reach the objective in the best conditions of reach, load and safety.

The Firefighting and Rescue Service of the City of Murcia has 5 operational stairways in its fleet: 2 of 39 meters, 1 of 37 meters, 1 of 32 meters and another 18 meters high.

There is also a 44-meter historic self-climbing vehicle.
