The Verónica Market as a cultural epicenter stars in the new edition of Discovering Murcia (27/11/2019)

Telling the stories that are hidden in the most emblematic buildings of the city and highlighting the importance of the architecture of its neighborhoods, is one of the objectives of Discovering Murcia.

Tatiana Poggi and Fernando de Retes will be in charge of explaining, in the fourth epigraph of the cycle, how the Verónica Market has become the epicenter of an area that breathes culture and architecture on all four sides.

The meeting will take place next Wednesday, December 4, at 7:00 p.m., at the T38 Restaurant.

The invitations are sold out.

The Veronicas Market has become the backbone of a cultural and commercial area where art galleries, architecture studios, restaurants, museums and spaces linked to the contemporary lifestyle come together.

All this next to a large urban border such as the Jardin del Malecón, which compresses the area and creates a unique cultural and social boil in the city.

The current market appears next to the Customs Gate of the old wall, a place where different buildings were happening until the modernist building was built in the 20th century.

The meeting will discuss the present, past and future of El Mercado de Verónicos under the vision of Tatiana and Fernando, both with projects in this emblematic area of the city.

The young architect Tatiana Poggi has maintained several interdisciplinary lines of work inside and outside the field of architecture, as well as in relation to the world of art, culture and teaching.

She is co-founder of Sunset Open House, located next to the Verónica Market, a space of cultural exaltation where art, gastronomy, architecture and new practices coexist, which has deserved the presence in publications such as AD Spain, Harper's Bazaar and Elle Decor.

The works he develops revolve around the exhaustive analysis of reality, the politicization of architecture and its technological introduction from a social base.

Fernando de Retes is one of the renowned architects within the regional landscape.

He has more than forty years of profession dedicated to architecture and design, the city and the landscape.

For twenty years they have been working from parameters linked to the limits of growth and issues of sustainability in building and in the development of the city and urban processes.

To date, the architects of Verbo Estudio y Estudio L +, Ad-hoc and Garrastudio, Carmen Santa-Cruz and Pablo Carbonell have already been part of this discipline, events in which a tour of buildings and emblematic areas of the city has been made such as the Teatro Circo de Murcia, El Casino de Murcia or the gardens with more tradition and its relationship with Murcia.

The proposal includes a total of three meetings per year, where Murcia will be valued, "rediscovering" its heritage through the vision of architecture professionals.

Cervezas Alhambra wants to give a voice to the group of architects in a forum different from the conventional one, to generate an experience that connects the public with its city, to enjoy calmly what its streets offer them and share a relaxed moment.

In short, experience the "Alhambra Moments" so present in the philosophy of the brand.

The initiative will accommodate the collective of architects, interior designers and designers from Murcia, who actively participate in the cultural effervescence that the city is experiencing, contribute great social weight, and share the aesthetic sensibility and technical expertise of Murcia's values.
