A new copy of "Silverware Studies", number 19 of the collection is presented at the University of Murcia (27/11/2019)

Today, Wednesday, November 27, at 6:00 p.m., the book "Silver Studies. San Eloy 2018" will be presented in the Chamber of the Faculty of Letters, with the colloquium "The current state of goldsmith research, by Jesús Rivas Carmona, Javier Alonso Benito and María del Mar Nicolás Martínez This is the nineteenth book in this collection, published by Editum, Editions of the University of Murcia, which has already become an international reference in the field.

The book includes articles such as' The control of silver in Mexico City in the 16th century ',' Silverware and jewelry in the documentary and the report of the official cinematography of Francoism ',' The collection of silverware and jewelry of the viceroy of Peru (1670-1740) ';

'The jewels of the infanta María Eulalia de Borbón y Borbón', or 'The feminine jewelry in Spain in the 18th century'.

Also the conferences "The appraisal of silverware", by Javier Alonso Benito, will be held between 12 and 19 hours;

"Sculpture in silver", by Alvaro Pascual Chenel and "Los Frontales de Platería", by Juan Jesús López-Guadalupe Muñoz, finishing the course the next day with a practice on the silversmith's guild by Jesús Rivas Carmona.

Feast and procession of San Eloy, patron of the silversmiths

On the other hand, on Thursday, November 28, the traditional festival of San Eloy, patron of silversmiths, goldsmiths, jewelers and blacksmiths will be celebrated, a commemoration that has its origin in medieval guilds and has been held at the University of Murcia for 24 years .

The party will begin at 10 in the morning in the church of La Merced, while the procession will leave at 12'15 from the Aulario de La Merced, and will take a tour with the following itinerary: Saavedra Fajardo, Vara del Rey, Barrionuevo , Trapería, Platería, Esteve Mora and Plaza de San Bartolomé, collecting offerings for the jewelers in their path.
