Murcia hosts its IV March Against Cancer on December 1 in a day with activities for the whole family (25/11/2019)

Athletes may participate by running, on a 10-kilometer course, or walking and skating, on a 5-kilometer route.

José Ballesta: "We expect that more than 5,000 Murcia participate in this edition, exceeding the number of athletes from the previous edition, which reached 4,500 athletes."

The proceeds will be used to research new ways to prevent and fight cancer.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, presented this morning the IV Solidarity March of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Murcia, which will be held on December 1 and whose main objective is to raise funds for the research project 'Development of new metal complexes for cancer therapy and phototherapy: study of the mechanism of cellular and molecular action', by researcher Enrique Ortega Forte, from the University of Murcia.

"Murcia will hold its IV Solidarity March in December, in which we expect more than 5,000 Murcia to participate, exceeding the number of athletes from the previous edition, which reached 4,500 registered, raising about 39,000 euros," said the mayor of Murcia, who added that "this initiative unites people and institutions, involving the public administration and the private sector to put it at the service of the potential researcher of the University of Murcia."

Registrations, of 10 euros each, can be made until 9 am on the same day of the test, in a position that will have been enabled in the Red Cross Square.

Likewise, those interested can register at the headquarters of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Murcia and through the Compralaentrada.com website.

The first 4,000 registered to the IV March Murcia, whose main sponsor is Iberdrola, will receive a shirt and a backpack, in addition to their number.

Registrations made on the same day of the race will not carry this material, which can already be collected at the Provincial Headquarters of the ACCE of Murcia (Calle Miguel Vivancos), Monday through Thursday, from 10 am to 7 pm, and the Fridays and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Schedule of the tests

Athletes may participate in this test by running or walking.

Specifically, at 10:30 a.m., the modality for runners will begin, with a route of 10 kilometers.

At 11 o'clock it will be the turn of the walk mode, which will close the march with a 5-kilometer route.

In this group skaters may also participate.

The departure and the goal will be held in the Red Cross Square, a space that will also host activities for the whole family during this day, which will begin at 11:30 am and will last until 2 pm.

Research, one of the pillars of the AECC

Accompanying and supporting the sick and their families is the pillar of this entity, in addition to allocating part of their budget to new ways to prevent and fight cancer are the objectives of this association, an entity that turned 65 in 2018.

The 'Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in March' is a solidarity competition that began in the streets of Valladolid and went through a smooth route for children, adults and adults to participate.

The AECC, a pioneer in helping people with cancer and their families, is the private entity that earns the most money for cancer research.
