From Arizona to Murcia, passing through Paris

The first Food Bank was founded in Arizona in 1967. The second was established in Paris, which led to the creation of the first European Food Bank in 1884. Originally, these solidarity entities functioned thanks to the disinterested collaboration of volunteers, who were mostly pre-retired or retired.

In Spain, the first food bank was created in Barcelona in 1987, and it was not until 1995 when the Spanish Federation of Food Banks was established, with the aim of coordinating its activities and relations with the central government and the European Union.

Currently, the national territory has a total of 55 centers of these characteristics.
