During the first week of the 'Cold Operation', launched on November 14 by the Mobile Emergency and Social Care Service of the City of Murcia (SEMAS) has attended a total of 17 homeless people on the occasion of Low temperatures
Of these 14 have been men and 3 women, of various nationalities, seven being from Spain, four from Bulgaria, two from Morocco, two from Senegal, one from Poland and one from Guinea
In addition to providing information and guidance on social resources, 15 food and hot drinks, seven blankets and four sleeping bags were delivered.
The areas that were covered were El Carmen, Infante, La Fama, Gran Via, Fica, Circular, Santa María de Gracia, Ronda Norte, San Antón, San Antolín, San Andrés, Primo Rivera Avenue, San Francisco Map and Juan XXIII Square .
The components of the device are permanently alert but when the temperature drops below 5 degrees the output becomes more exhaustive, providing an information service, attention, accompaniment and delivery of hot drinks, food, sleeping bags or blankets to serve people without home that are in extreme situations, trying to promote their social integration.
Thus, SEMAS will tour the streets, gardens, ATMs and garden areas of the municipality, helping people who sleep on public roads and need it, to whom blankets, sleeping bags, raincoats, hot drinks are delivered. etc., according to the needs of each case.
Depending on the specific circumstances of each person, different resources are also offered, such as the transfer to the center of the Abandoned Jesus Foundation or to the RAIS Foundation, other accommodations, or hospital centers, if necessary, in addition to monitoring .
The Mobile Emergency and Social Assistance Service, composed of social workers from the City Council and Local Police agents, depends on the Department of Social and Family Rights, which Pilar Torres directs.
