The Municipal Council for Cooperation and Solidarity chaired by the Councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, has given the green light at the beginning of the drafting of the 1st Municipal Development Cooperation Plan of the City of Murcia.
"A tool that", according to the responsible mayor, "will allow us to plan in the medium and long term the actions we are going to carry out from the Department in development cooperation, education and development awareness and humanitarian aid ".
The drafting of the Municipal Development Cooperation Plan is scheduled to end next spring.
Various experts in development cooperation, NGOs, universities, and municipal political groups will participate in its elaboration.
Likewise, the Plan will cover the strategic objectives of the City Council of Murcia in development aid and will contemplate an execution schedule for the four years that the mandate will be carried out through annual plans, preferred geographical areas and sectors of action, as well as the budget for the entire term of the projects.
During the celebration of the Municipal Council for Cooperation and Solidarity, the call for cooperation and education and development awareness projects was approved, with a total of 19 projects on development cooperation being subsidized (10 in Africa, 1 in America Central, 7 in South America and 1 in Asia), for a total amount of 345,630 euros;
and another 10 projects in education and development awareness for a total of 31,241 euros.
