They will allow for the first time the installation of bars in districts during Christmas and Spring Festivities (14/11/2019)

The Department of Commerce, Markets and Public Road opens for the first time the possibility of installing bars in districts during Christmas and Spring Festivities, specifically on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, Bando de la Huerta and Burial of La Sardina.

The responsible mayor Juan Fernando Hernández has signed a decree today - which will be published tomorrow in the BORM - that will allow the establishments of the districts that request authorization to mount bars during these holidays.

The deadline for submitting applications, which cannot be extended, will begin tomorrow, Friday 15, and will be open until next Tuesday, November 26, during the business hours of the electronic headquarters of the municipal website.

Hospitality establishments that did not have the relevant licenses as of November 26, may apply until December 2 for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve;

and until April 1, 2020 for the Bando de la Huerta and the Burial of the Sardine.

Likewise, to obtain said authorization, the petitioner must be up to date in the payment of debts with the municipal treasury.

For the first time, the decree introduces the possibility of catching up on the payment of debts on the end date of the application deadline (November 26).

Another novelty of the decree is that in the streets classified as ZEPA (Special Acoustic Protection Zone) the use of musical or sound reproduction equipment will not be allowed.

In the rest of the non-ZEPA sites, the installation of a single musical reproduction equipment per zone will be allowed, and an acoustic impact study signed by the ECA certificate must be provided.

In addition, the bars must be placed leaving a minimum of 5 meters free of obstacles in the accesses to portals of buildings, and can not occupy spaces for parking.

On the pedestrian and shared use streets a free passage will be guaranteed for ordinary and emergency vehicles.

The installation of bars on private land and public use will also be allowed, provided the petitioner provides express written authorization from the land owner.
