The XI edition of the ´Aguas de Murcia Solidaria´ contest with € 12,000 for water improvement projects in developing countries is opened (12/11/2019)

One more year, Aguas Murcia launches its most supportive contest, fulfilling the XI call and which has been presented by the Councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro Corchón, the Councilor for Seniors, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, together to the legal representative of Aguas de Murcia, Rafael Gómez.

Endowed with 12,000 euros, this contest aims to guarantee the availability and sanitation of water in developing countries.

In this way, it contributes to the reduction of poverty through the installation of hydraulic infrastructures that facilitate the supply of drinking water and sanitation in those villages where they need it most, thus improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.

In addition, Aguas de Murcia assumes as its own the commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically number 6, "guarantee the availability of water and its sustainable management and sanitation for all".

Since the first edition in 2009, projects have been carried out in countries such as Mauritania, Tanzania, Colombia, El Salvador, Cameroon, Haiti, Algeria and Uganda with a total donation of more than 126,000 euros.

The deadline for submitting the new projects will end on Friday, March 27, 2020, and the applications will be submitted to the Legal Service of Aguas de Murcia in the Circular Plaza.

Thanks to this contest in previous editions, it has achieved the implementation of the following projects:

In 2009, "Improvement of the conditions of access to water of 2,900 people (1,660 women and 1,240 men) from the town of Niévrare, in the commune of BoerToress, Wilaya de Trarza, Mauritania" by Assembly of Cooperation for Peace.

In 2010, the winner was Ingeniería Sin Fronteras, with the project "Hydrosanitary Program of the District of Same: Strengthening the sustainability of water and sanitation services in the communities of Njora, Vumari and Ishinde, Tanzania"

2011 the winner was for the second time, Peace Cooperation Assembly with the project "Improving food security for the inhabitants of the Djonaba commune, in the province of MaghtaLahjar, Brankna region, Mauritania", benefiting 2,521 people directly and 12,562 indirectly.

In 2012, Solidaridad Internacional, with its project "Improving the quality of life of Afro-Colombian communities affected by the armed conflict in the department of Cauca, Colombia", was elected winner of the fourth edition.

In 2013, Alliance for Solidarity won the prize for the project "Access to water for the inhabitants of the Las Casitas village of El Salvador".

2014 the project presented by FADE won the VI edition and is making it possible to bring drinking water to the rural populations of Mbleoa and Ayene, in Cameroon.

2015 - The VII edition was for the Humanism and Democracy Foundation that worked on improving access to drinking water in the Los Paleos community, in the Les Cacaos municipality of Haiti.

This project has guaranteed the right to drinking water to 95 families and approximately 750 people, from the Los Paleos community.

2016 - Winner VIII edition of the "Aguas de Murcia Solidaria" Contest.

FIREFIGHTERS IN ACTION with the project "Installation of water tanks and construction of latrines" (Saharawi refugee camps) "Tindouf".

The direct beneficiaries were about 900 inhabitants.

2017 - Rafiki Africa with its project "Integral development of a depressed rural area in Uganda", where deposits were built for the use of rainwater

2018 - In the last edition, the FADE Foundation won and is currently building a drinking water well in the town of Nsimalen in Cameroon.
