Urban Law Day in honor of Professor José Antonio López Pellicer at the University of Murcia (08/11/2019)

The University of Murcia has organized this Friday, November 8, a day of Urban Law in tribute to Professor José Antonio López Pellicer, an administrationist who dedicated his tireless academic and professional career primarily to local Administrative Law and Urban Law.

After a stage as General Administration Technician in the City of Murcia, Secretary of the City Council and Senior Officer of the same, López Pellicer began his academic life in 1987, which he concurred as Magistrate of the Chamber of the litigation of the TSJ of Murcia, which He continued until 2011, when he was already an honorary professor saying goodbye to the Administrative Law Department of the UMU.

During the inauguration of the day Blanca Soro, director of the Administrative Law department of the UMU, had a few words of remembrance to Professor López Pellicer.

"If I had to describe José Antonio as a professor in the Department of Administrative Law, I can say that I remember him as an always studious, meticulous companion, capable of accumulating huge legal information in an almost encyclopedic way," he said.

Professor Soro wanted to highlight the generosity of the professor honored with the youngest "that we began our research career, sharing ideas, opinions, news, rules on the issues that we then began to work. Always up to date, despite not using the Internet not even a computer. His daughters helped him to digitalize all his writings. It was impressive that, on a daily basis, and without these technological tools to use, every day he could share the last sentence that had come to his hands almost before the databases. "

The day has also had the participation of two professors of Administrative Law of the Complutense University of Madrid: José María Baño León, who has talked about the urban planning crisis and possible reform proposals;

and Juan Alfonso Santamaría Pastor, who has focused his conference on the regime of responsible statements and prior communications in the urban area.

The act, which has taken place in the degree room of the law school, has been attended, among others, by José Luján, rector of the UMU;

and David Lorenzo Morillas, dean of the law school.
