Los Ramos will release a new palm-garden inspired by the Murcia garden at the beginning of the year (07/11/2019)

The Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, visits the beginning of the works of the Vereda del Chocolate Garden, 1,100 square meters and designed by the sculptor from Murcia Pepe Hernández.

This space, which has an arch in honor of the Virgen de las Huertas, will simulate an oasis in the middle of the Greenway with plantation of new trees and shrubs, full of palm trees, orange trees, plums, clams, lavenders and bells.

"The district will have a new recreation and enjoyment area for our neighbors, another example that the City Council is committed to maintaining green areas for the well-being of our citizens," he says.

The hamlet of Los Ramos will have a new green space inspired by the Murcian garden and the Andalusian gardens.

This is the Vereda Chocolate Garden, whose work began a few days ago and will be ready at the beginning of the year.

The Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, has visited today the beginning of the works of this space, of 1,100 square meters, which is being carried out on a municipal plot destined for it.

"Los Ramos residents and visitors can enjoy a new area of ​​leisure and enjoyment that is part of the Greenway and will serve as a residential area for pedestrians and cyclists of this route of more than 8.5 kilometers," says the councilor.

The Murcian sculptor Pepe Hernández has been in charge of its design, together with the municipal technicians of the Department of Urban Development, giving this space the values ​​and idiosyncrasies of the garden and inspired by the Andalusian gardens.

The garden will also have a fountain with a sculpture by the Murcian artist.

“It is a unique and original design, which values ​​the ditches of our garden and has an arch in honor of the Virgen de las Huertas,†explains José Guillén.

This space will also simulate a palm-shaped oasis in the middle of the Greenway, thanks to its vegetation.

The garden will house new woodland and shrub species, such as Phoenix dactylifera palm trees, orange trees, garden plums, clams, garden vanilla or heliotropes, bells, lavenders and lantanas.

"The district will have a new area for recreation and enjoyment of our neighbors, another example that the City Council is committed to maintaining green areas for the well-being of our citizens and not forgetting our roots," said Councilor José Guillén.

Main actions

This action is linked to water and is told through its ditches and hydraulic infrastructures, palm trees and fruit trees.

The works of the new garden have begun with the excavation and removal of the disintegrated land and, then, the execution of networks of public lighting, paving and paving of the residential areas and development of the irrigation network will continue.

The little ones will enjoy a play area with more modern and didactic elements, where a tower with slide and climb stands out.

The environment will be fenced and will also have a living area with multiple banks.

The works will be carried out by JT Public Works and Services, within a period of four months and with a budget of 112,000 euros (VAT included).

This project is part of the Extraordinary Investment Plan, which will be developed in coordination with the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration and the Department of Pedanías and Barrios.
