The City Council explains the implementation of its Urban Agenda 2030 in the Forum of Employment and Local Development (06/11/2019)

The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, participated this morning in the VII Forum of Employment and Local Development that was held at the Faculty of Labor Sciences of the University of Murcia.

Students, teachers and local employment and development technicians have gathered in this meeting focused on economic promotion and job creation.

The councilor has participated in the inauguration where she highlighted the importance of the City Council of Murcia being the first Spanish consistory to have a Department of Urban Agenda, as well as intervened with a presentation on the implementation of the Urban Agenda 2030 in the municipality.

“The previous planning model (Murcia 2020 Strategy) consolidated the presence of Murcia in national and international networks, allowed to create a shared and integrated vision of the municipality that has served as a dynamic strategic framework and from which new regulatory and planning instruments have emerged, intervention proposals, sector plans, participatory methodologies, â€explained the mayor.

Thus, at present, the City Council, in collaboration with the University of Murcia, and following the approach contained in the Spanish Urban Agenda, is developing a methodological document for the implementation of the new 2030 strategy that takes as its starting point the previous 2020 strategy.

The councilor has announced that she has just completed the methodology that will be followed for the participatory process of designing the Urban Agenda of Murcia.

"We have made a socioeconomic diagnosis that has been useful to detect what weaknesses, threats, strengths and opportunities we are going to find, which will serve as a starting point to work in the participatory process that we will begin shortly," explains the mayor.

He also explained that work is being done on an inventory of procedures, projects and documents related to the strategic planning of the municipality.

This document will be the roadmap for the next 10 years of the municipality.

"For the implementation of this process, the importance of social cohesion is essential, generating economic growth from common sense, being aware of our resources and respecting the environment," said Mercedes Bernabé.

“From the council, work is being done on a training action plan to publicize what the Urban Agenda means and its implementation in the municipality of Murcia when defining the city model we are going in relation to the development objective sustainable number 11 on the achievement of inclusive, safe, resident and sustainable cities, â€he added.

“The days of local economies held on October 3 at the City of Murcia and the Forum we are in are two of these dissemination activities of this training plan, which is aimed at students, technicians from other consistories, entities and even officials of the City Council itself â€, said Bernabé.
