"We are as surprised as outraged that this association receives 8,500 euros from the municipal coffers when it is dedicated to indoctrinate," says Councilwoman Esther Nevado.

"We find it absolutely anachronistic to support a public institution such as the City of Murcia to an association that is dedicated to converting sexual deviations, when these supposed therapies have been unauthorized by the international scientific community and are only defended by related groups to the extreme right, when there are even autonomous communities and countries that have expressly prohibited them because they consider that they violate the integrity of the people, "says Nevado, who adds that" we believe that the PP is fully aware that, although the purpose for which the subsidy is granted is the 'intervention with families in situations of social difficulty', this is intended for premarital courses or this type of therapy for sexual reconversion. "

Therefore, Mater Familiae is dedicated to premarital training, the recognition of fertility and family orientation, as contained in the project presented by the association itself.

Therefore, Nevado wonders what training these counselors have and, "if the lawyers, psychiatrists, psychologists and pedagogues who attend specific cases behind the counselors are collegiate."

"But we want to know more, we want to know how many users take advantage of this association and, above all, if there are minors among them, because 8,500 euros of public money seems to us a sufficient amount, which could alleviate many deficiencies in terms of poverty in this municipality , especially children, and yet it is given to a group that intends to guide us spiritually, "says the councilor.

Esther Nevado says that the project they presented in 2018 for the granting of the subsidy "is not wasted", since they present as functions the therapy to families in situations of marital crisis, special attention to the pregnant woman, especially in those cases with risks of induced abortions and when they talk about premarital training and recognition of fertility they add "always in fidelity to the teaching of the Church".

For all this, the councilwoman says that "if these are the concerns of the Crossbow and Citizens PP, we can not imagine how far it could go governing with the extreme right," and adds that Mater Familiae also highlights as a function the research developed as a result of the data extracted from the attention to people and families.

"Of course we doubt the scientific rigor of the conclusions of these studies," says the councilor.
