UCAM disseminates research in Science Week (05/11/2019)

The Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) will participate in the Science Week, which opens this Friday, with a wide variety of activities in which more than thirty researchers from the areas of Food, Health, Sports, Esports, Science will participate and Polytechnic Sciences.

This event will take place in the Botanical Garden of El Malecón (Murcia)

The XVIII edition of the Science Week, organized by the Ministry of Employment, Research and Universities, through the Seneca Foundation, will have the active participation of UCAM, coordinated by the Vice-Rectorate for Research.

An event that this year has the slogan 'Journey to the center of science', a review that reminds Julio Verne.

UCAM has a firm commitment to science, backed by its 79 research groups, which are addressing nearly 500 lines of research.

Among the different activities carried out by the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) we can highlight some such as 'Active Aging, Exercise and Health', in which two tests will be carried out on people over 50 who approach their stand: a first test with which the decrease in muscle strength, muscle mass and physical performance will be measured, accompanied by a second test in which an assessment of the functional capacity of the individual will be made through different physical exercises of weight .

In addition, you can find other activities such as 'IoCosas: Objects become intelligent', which will unveil the new revolution of the IoT 'Internet of Things' through various equipment exhibitions and technical demonstrations of prototypes built within University;

'Label and discover, in which attendees will recognize the type and quantity of food sugars, identifying them on their labels and analyzing whether they comply with current legislation;

or 'Elder for 1 day, how do you feel?', where the public will discover how a person with reduced mobility feels, visual pathologies and other characteristics of aging.

"For us this event is important because it gives us the opportunity to take the science that we develop in the UCAM to the street and contribute to awakening scientific vocations. Young people cannot wish for what they do not know and with this fair they become aware of the research which takes place in the Region of Murcia and in our specific case, the one developed at UCAM, "says Estrella Núñez, Vice Chancellor for Research at UCAM.
