More than 1,000 people, from 32 Spanish provinces, have spent this weekend at the Murcia Lan Party, which this year has celebrated its 18th edition.

Innovation, leisure and youth participation have been the pillars of this event with more than twenty activities, tournaments, competitions, conferences and workshops.

As a novelty this year, a new room for visitors and participants with games on virtual reality and radio controlled car circuits has been installed.

They also highlight a drone workshop and an 'Escape Room', which welcomed hundreds of people interested in virtual reality on Saturday.

"Murcia has become a technological reference of the national scene these days and it is that more and more people are interested in participating in events of this nature," said José Guillén, Councilor for Modernization of the Administration.

The Palacio de los Deportes has hosted this celebration where computer lovers come together every year, with 94 uninterrupted hours of high-speed navigation.

Specifically, they have been able to enjoy 10,800 meters of data network cable and 4,200 meters of electrical cable.

Games and competitions

Of the total attendees, 650 people have participated in any of the competitions or tournaments of this edition.

The Murcia Lan Party has had this year football competitions, Death Race, Karaoke, Launch, Virtual Trackmania, Gymkana Muertos, Pikachu Volley, Dances de Fornite, Real Pikachu Volley and opening contest.

There have also been a series of games for technology lovers, such as League of Legends, Counter Strike GO, Teamfight Tactics, Fornite, Fifa 20 and Mario Kart 8, among others.

The City of Murcia, through the departments of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, directed by José Guillén, and Pedanías y Barrios, directed by Marco Antonio Fernández, have been the organizers of this event together with the Association of the University of Murcia Murcia Lan Party and with the collaboration of Telefónica Movistar.

"The quality of this event makes it a must for fans of new technologies, an event that has been held in Murcia since 2001," explains Marco Antonio Fernández.
