More than 15,000 people enjoy the 'Parks, Music and Action' activities in October (03/11/2019)

The initiative of the departments of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration and Sustainable Mobility and Youth fill more than 50 green spaces of the municipality with activities for all types of public.

The program has contributed to the 2030 Forestry Strategy thanks to the planting of more than 800 plant species in different spaces such as Murcia Río, Artillery Barracks, El Palmar and Montepinar urbanization, among others.

"'Parks, Music and Action' has also promoted the neighborhood fabric, the promotion of healthy habits, enjoying our climate and spending time with family and friends," said Councilman José Guillén.

Over 15,000 people have enjoyed during the month of October the activities of the 'Parks, Music and Action' program, organized by the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, directed by José Guillén, in collaboration with the Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth, directed by Rebeca Pérez.

The initiative has filled the more than 50 parks and gardens of Murcia and districts with more than 350 varied activities aimed at all types of public.

'Parks, Music and Action' has had dances, such as tango, capoeira, zumba, urban dance, sevillanas, rumba, lindy hop, blues dance, west coast swing, rock & roll and the most traditional Murcia.

Activities with babies, music workshops, storytelling, crafts, photography, yoga, meditation and mindfulness have also been carried out.

Contribution to the 2030 Forest Plan

The program has raised awareness about the care of the environment through the importance of recycling, but has also contributed to the 2030 Forestry Strategy with the planting of trees and flowers.

Specifically, throughout this month of October, more than 800 plant species have been planted, including trees (bahuinias), petunias, irises, myrtle and lentisks, large and small carrascos pines, baobar and bananas, in different spaces such as Murcia Rio, Artillery Barracks, El Palmar and Montepinar urbanization, among others.

The children have been the protagonists of the activity that, together with the monitors and their parents, have carried out the excavation of the hole and carry out the planting of the bush, tree or flower.

“'Parks, Music and Action' has not only filled our green spaces with life, but has also contributed to the promotion of the neighborhood fabric, the promotion of healthy habits, enjoying our climate and spending time with family and friends,†highlights the Councilor José Guillén.

The mayor announces that the program has been developed during the month of October and plans to return from March with more activities and reach more districts.
