UCAM will train more than 4600 foreign students this year (31/10/2019)

With emotion and in an excellent atmosphere of coexistence, this morning, in the surroundings of the Cathedral of Murcia, the act of welcoming a large group of foreign students who have just joined the studies at the Catholic University of San Antonio, was celebrated in its Murcia and Cartagena campuses, so they are newcomers to our country and our Region.

UCAM is expected to train this course for more than 4600 foreign students.

Near 2000 they will make official studies (degree, postgraduate and doctorate) and the others, own degrees of specialization.

Specifically in the Murcia and Cartagena Campus they will study 2933 and in the 1733 external and international headquarters.

In the cloister of the Episcopal Palace, the president of UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, has addressed the students, whom he has welcomed "to Murcia, a land full of sun and life, welcoming, where you are going to be at home, we want to give you a training in values, based on the Catholic identity, and academic, that allows you to be great professionals, and that you take a great memory of your stay here. "

For his part, the bishop of the Diocese, José Manuel Lorca, has shown his joy "for having chosen this land and this university", highlighting "the extraordinary formation that you will receive to work for others with an open heart."

Multicultural Campus

The students present at the event this morning came from more than fifty countries, such as Italy, France, Mexico, Bangladesh, Congo, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Mozambique, India, Norway, Pakistan, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine , United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Vietnam, etc.

The institution has international students in all its faculties, either through a mobility program (Erasmus, Latin America, Overseas or North America) or by properly studying a degree.

A large number is formed in the degrees and postgraduate courses taught entirely in English (Dentistry, Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, Modern Languages ​​or Business Administration and Management), as well as opting for Physiotherapy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Law, Marketing, Psychology or MBA, among others.

Cultural enrichment

Its commitment to internationalization will allow UCAM, among other aspects, to increase international research projects, in addition to continuing to strengthen ties with universities around the world and strengthen the mobility of Spanish students to these countries.

These young people, who will remain in the Region of Murcia for one to four years, will also contribute to the generation of wealth during their stay and, once they return to their respective countries, will have obtained extraordinary training while promoting with their experiences the Region of Murcia.

Increase in Chinese students

The increase in the number of students from China in recent years should be noted.

It should be remembered that the Catholic University of Murcia has been included in the list of universities recommended by the Ministry of Education of the Government of the People's Republic of China, which allows it to expand collaborations and strengthen ties with institutions of the Asian country in terms of projects educational and incorporation of students.
