The Socialist Municipal Group has verified that the City Council of Murcia does not have an updated ordinance and in accordance with existing waste needs.
More than six years ago the deadline to carry out the adaptation, mandatory to Law 22/2011, of July 28, of Contaminated Waste and Soil, modified by Law 5/2013 of June 11, where it was established was established that the different municipalities had to approve their ordinances adapted to said law prior to July 31, 2013 and “today there has been no movement in this regard, which is inconceivable if you really believe in the strategy for sustainable development of our planet, especially after commemorating yesterday the World Day against Climate Change, which passed without penalty or glory, â€explains Councilman Andrés Guerrero.
In this regard, he will defend in the next plenary session a motion to urge the municipal government team to adapt an ordinance based on the existing one that is already obsolete or carry out a new ordinance on municipal solid waste and waste.
For the councilor, "this fact supposes not only a clear breach of the Law, but also allows the existence of regulatory regulations that do not include the current reality."
“Thus, for example, among the appreciable absences is the lack of regulation regarding the so-called bio-waste, which Law 22/2011 identifies as the biodegradable waste from gardens, parks, food and others, which can be used for composting, and differentiated from the remains of bio-waste organic matter, â€says Guerrero.
In addition, it warns that the existing ecopoints or clean points are not regulated by any ordinance, nor their conditions of use, waste management or the characteristics of said facilities, which depend on the City Council, so it is an opportunity for it to remain regulated in the new municipal regulations.
