Murcia will host the Spanish Team Tennis Championship for the third consecutive year (24/10/2019)

In the year of its centenary, the Murcia Tennis Club will host this national competition, which will begin on October 31 and end on November 2.

José Ballesta: "For all Murcia, it is an honor that the Murcia Tennis Club hosts this national championship for the fifth time in its history, as it was also organized in 2003 and 1997".

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the general director of Sports, Francisco Sánchez, and the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, attended this morning the presentation of the 50th Championship of Spain of absolute tennis by Teams at the Real Casino de Murcia, competition in which eight top-notch men's teams will participate.

"For all Murcia is an honor that the Murcia Tennis Club will host this national championship for the third consecutive year and for the fifth time in its history, as it was also organized in 2003 and 1997," said the mayor of Murcia, who added that "it is a historic club that has the support of about 5,000 members and that this year celebrates its centenary, since it was founded in 1919."

The championship, organized by the club in collaboration with Mapfre and the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, will begin on October 31 and end on November 2, and will take place on the slopes of the Murcia Tennis Club.

The event was attended by the president of the Spanish Tennis Federation, Miguel Díaz, the president of the Murcian Tennis Federation, José Alcolea, the president of the Murcia Tennis Club, Antonio Saura, and the sports director of this club, Florencio Soto.

José Ballesta congratulated the Murcia Tennis Club for its centenary and said that "it is one of the reference sports institutions in the Region, which is part of the history of our city, and has a strong national projection."

Free entry to see 80 top players play

Admission to access the championship, in which the eight best Spanish clubs will participate, will be free.

Each team will consist of an average of ten players, which means that about 80 top-class athletes will compete in Murcia during the next week.

In this edition, the teams that will participate will be the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona 1899, Club Tennis Barcino, Club de Tennis Valencia, Cercle Sabadellés 1856, Tennis Club Chamartín, Club de Tennis Tarragona, Murcia Tennis Club and Real Club de Polo.
