The City Council and Terra Natura promote the integration of people with specific needs through the program '12 months with you ' (24/10/2019)

The City Council and Terra Natura have made this park a fully accessible space with adequate access, as well as the provision of specific areas for people with wheelchairs, among other improvements

The City Council and Terra Natura promote the integration of people with specific needs through the '12 months with you' program, an initiative that organizes each month a different action aimed at a specific social group.

Thus, the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, and the Councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, have visited the Terra Natura park today to accompany a group of thirty users of the Man Project.

On this occasion, visitors have toured the park with guides and animal experts, who have shown them all the details and characteristics of each of the species that inhabit this space.

In addition, attendees have been able to enjoy an exhibition of birds of prey.

"Our parks and gardens have to be meeting places for all groups and citizens, accessible places that are also an example of social responsibility and commitment," said Councilman José Guillén.

The program organizes actions for NGOs and entities such as Todos Somos Campus (UMU and ONCE), ACOFAMT, Center for Social Services Murcia Norte, D'Genes, Abamurcia, Project 13-17, FADE, ASSIDO, Adaner Murcia, Project Man, Project Abraham and CEOM.

"The idea is that our spaces are places of learning, exchange of values, opportunities, open places, without barriers and without limitations," said Councilor Pilar Torres.

Terra Natura is considered a fully accessible enclosure.

The adaptation has been made with contributions from various organizations, which defined the aspects to be taken care of.

For example, climbing accesses have been adapted, tree hollows are filled, closures and entrances to bathrooms have been installed, specific areas for people in wheelchairs are installed, and improvements in the hearing system have also been applied.

Councilman José Guillén recalls that "Murcia has a network of more than 3,000 green areas and that Terra Natura is the most emblematic park in the city through which tens of thousands of people pass through the year."
