The Bernal Theater hosts the solidarity gala of Aspanpal with the interpretation of 'Les Miserables' (21/10/2019)

The Bernal Theater in El Palmar will host on November 22, at 7:00 p.m., the XI Aspanpal Solidarity Gala with the objective of raising funds to improve the living conditions of children with hearing and language problems.

The organizers presented this event this morning at an event held at the City Council with the participation of the Councilors for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, Seniors, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, next to the manager of Aspanpal, Fátima Díaz González.

This year, the students of the school El Buen Pastor de Murcia will stage the famous musical of 'Los Miserables', a show that will also show the inclusive dance workshop of the children of the Association.

It will be a show accessible to all audiences, with live subtitles, sign language interpreters and the installed magnetic loop available to the Bernal Theater itself.

The benefits of this gala will be aimed at improving all the programs in which the Association works and that provide daily attention to more than 350 families in the Region of Murcia and more than 100 adults with deafness.

"The work of this association not only deserves our most sincere recognition, but also symbolizes one of the pillars of this council for bringing culture to all audiences, that our theaters break their barriers and are more accessible and inclusive spaces," highlights the Councilor Jesús Pacheco.

For her part, the mayor Paqui Pérez said that "from the Department of Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation we support any initiative that helps improve the living conditions of people, in this case, of children with hearing problems and language, and achieve full inclusion. "

More than 41 years of experience

Aspanpal is a 41-year-old association that works for and for people with hearing and language problems, as well as with their families through specific programs that guarantee their development and full inclusion, promoting personal autonomy and eliminating social inequalities.

The Good Shepherd School has been supportive for twenty years, collaborating with the Association in making solidarity and inclusive theater, as the show that will be staged on November 22, 'The Miserable'.

Also the workshop of inclusive dance has more than 6 years of experience, being awarded last year by the Autonomous Community with the Commitment prize.

The work carried out by this Association is essential for people with this disability and their families, but it is also essential for all Murcia, "because together we make a more just and cohesive society," says Pilar Torres.

The City of Murcia collaborates with a speech therapy rehabilitation program for children over 6 years, where 24 children attend weekly, as well as in recent years it is collaborating with Aspanpal to bring culture and leisure closer in a more accessible way, as well as the information, from the Plenary Hall of the City of Murcia, the Bernal Theater and the Circus Theater of Murcia.

The next objective of Aspanpal is the creation of a day center, as well as a specific training center for deaf people with difficulties in its insertion.
