The 2023 Pool Objective Plan reaches Lake San Ginés, which will have a new pumping and water saving system (15/10/2019)

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, visited the works that are currently being carried out in the Los Patos park, in the hamlet of San Ginés, where Park technicians and Gardens are installing a new firefighter system and reducing the draft of the pond, which will save water, among other measures.

“The residents of the district of San Ginés will be able to enjoy the new environment of the Los Patos park from November, which will have a new water pumping system, which will prevent the generation of sludge and improve the quality of life of the fauna that lives in the garden, â€said the mayor of Murcia, who added that“ this action is part of the 'Objective Pool 2023' plan, launched in August, to mitigate the effects of climate change through water, as an element protagonist of our parks and gardens â€.

Specifically, the works of Los Patos Park have involved an investment of 38,000 euros.

Work began at the end of September and will end in November.

A 500m2 lake

The technicians are working on the reduction of the draft of the pond, decreasing its depth, which will go from 1 meter to 0.80 meters, which will save water.

Likewise, a new purification and purification system will be installed, a new, more powerful pumping equipment with which water circulation will be improved, preventing it from pooling and generating sludge, as well as slowing the proliferation of mosquitoes.

This action, which will improve water quality and prevent bad odors from being generated, will also positively affect the fauna of the park, mainly formed by ducks.

In addition, the draft reduction also means an increase in safety.

The smaller the depth of the pond, the lower the chances of accidents, increasing the safety of families walking through the area.

Specifically, the lake, with an area of 500 square meters, has a water volume of 190 cubic meters.

Energy efficient lights to beautify the park

Likewise, it will proceed to the installation of LED lights in the surroundings of the lake, embellishing this park.

In addition, the railing surrounding the pond will be renewed.

Soon the technicians will begin to work in the park of Fofó, where the conditions of the pond will also be improved.

For its part, the lake of La Seda has already been renovated, and this week will conclude the work that is being carried out in the Salitre, where the draft of the pond has been reduced and a new layer of waterproofing has been placed that prevents water seepage occurs.

In both ponds the sediments and sludges that were deposited at the bottom of the lakes were removed and new more powerful pumping equipment was installed to improve water recirculation.

All the measures of the '2023 Pool Objective'

The 'Target Pool 2023' encompasses, in total, four major measures, among which is the renovation of nine major works, such as the ponds mentioned.

The construction of ten new ornamental fountains in the most emblematic places of the city, such as San Esteban;

the holding of an annual contest of ideas, in which the winning project will be executed;

as well as the investment of 100,000 euros per year for the construction of new sources in the municipality and its districts, for five years, are the other three major measures that make up the '2023 Pool Objective'.
