Murcia joins the 1st Hispanic Conference of Cities and Communities Friendly to the Elderly (14/10/2019)

The conference, held in Madrid from October 14 to 16, is a meeting point where cities and communities, public institutions and organizations of older people share experiences and good practices that help improve the conditions of the older population taking into account account your needs and opinions

Councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, accompanied by technical staff of the seniors section, attends the Hispanic Conference of Cities and Friendly Communities with the Elderly "Sustainable environments for all people", which celebrated in Madrid from October 14 to 16.

The contents of the program of this I Conference include presentations and workshops on the situation of older people in Spain, experiences of good practices in different municipalities adhered to the Network of Friendly Cities with the elderly in the urban environment, good treatment to the elderly, unwanted loneliness and social inclusion.

With the participation of the mayor Paqui Pérez and the municipal technicians of the area of ​​seniors in these days it is intended to know more fully the development and experiences of operation of the project of Cities and Communities Friendly with the Elderly, which will favor that Murcia, which has already belonged to the Network since 2018, develops its own project and starts its implementation, adapting the protocols and methodology to the reality of the municipality and the specific needs of the elderly.

In this regard, Councilwoman Paqui Pérez has stressed that "this project is a clear commitment to work and coordinated effort to ensure that the seventh city of Spain becomes a modern, supportive, accessible and participatory place for older people residing in she".

The World Health Organization, promoter of the World Network of Cities and Communities Friendly to the Elderly, proposes these eight work areas:
