The first family and artistic festival for Spina Bifida will be held on October 18 (08/10/2019)

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Minister of Women, Equality, LGTBI, Families and Social Policy, Isabel Franco, and the president of Amupheb (Murcian Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida), Carmen Gil, presented today RockBif charity festival, which will take place on Friday, October 18, in the Fofó Park, with the institutional support of the City of Murcia and the Autonomous Community.

RockBif will take place on Friday, October 18, 2019, starting at 8:00 p.m., in the Fofó Park and aims to raise awareness and awareness about spina bifida and related diseases, as well as raise funds for the projects carried out by Amupheb .

The association holds a solidarity concert every year that in this edition of 2019 will become a cultural festival, with the incorporation of different artistic disciplines and figures from the entertainment world.

The groups The basement of the doctor and Oh Brother! Will participate, who will make the public dance to the rhythm of 80's music and country-folk, the illusionist magician Domingo Artés, the Murcian painter Álvaro Peña, the Murcian singer-songwriter Inma López and the Groetsch group Dance.

José Ballesta described Amupheb's work as “absolutely essential, for everything he has done during these almost 40 years of life, the achievements and the impact on our society†and stressed that “the Constitution reflects that all Spaniards are born free and equal in rights and obligations, and although it seems that much progress has been made in freedom, not so much in equality.

Artists and collaborating companies

During the press conference, in which the presentation of the festival's poster was also held, the artists who contributed altruistically to the celebration of the event were also involved: the illusionist magician Domingo Artés, the component of the Doctor's Basement group , the painter Álvaro Peña, the component of the Groetsch Danza Cristina Mollá group and the singer Inma López.

Representatives of the companies and organizations that collaborate in the festival also attended: teachers of Sign Language from the University of Murcia and Interpreters of the event, Cajamurcia Foundation, Cajamar, La Torre Restaurant, the Plastic Arts company "Cobalto", Rotary Club Murcia North and FAMDIF.

Support for those affected with spina bifida

The Murcian Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida (Amupheb) was established in 1980. It is a public and non-profit entity whose mission is to promote the quality of life and full integration of those affected by spina bifida and their families

It is a national reference within the associative movement for people with disabilities and offers guidance and assistance, educational, recreational, labor, training, cultural and sports activities and services throughout the year, which favor the quality of life of users and their full integration.

In our country there are currently around 19,000 patients with spina bifida, with a prevalence of 8 cases per 10,000 births.

Among the support measures to Amupheb that has been developed by the City of Murcia, the collaboration through the agreement that helps finance one of the most important projects of the association, such as Home Services for people with spina bifida and its families, for more than 15 years.
