The Prado Museum will host a symposium on the figure of Murcian painter Ramón Gaya next week (07/10/2019)

Experts and friends of the painter will participate, who will analyze his pictorial and literary work through conferences and round tables.

José Ballesta: "Madrid will host this symposium to honor the Murcian painter, who in his condition as an exile had painting as a homeland, the Prado Museum being his strongest reference."

The free admission symposium will be held on October 16 and 17.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, presented the activities that commemorate the XXIX Anniversary of the Ramón Gaya Museum, founded in 1990, among which stands out the symposium 'The Modernity of Ramón Gaya ', which will be held on October 16 and 17 at the Museo Nacional del Prado.

"Ramón Gaya was a painter who in his condition as an exile had painting as a true homeland, the Prado Museum being his strongest reference, as he left written in 'Roca Española', one of his texts," said the mayor of Murcia , who added that "for its permanent relationship with the Prado Museum, Madrid will host this symposium to honor the Murcian painter."

The meeting, free admission, coincides with the Bicentennial of the National Museum of the Prado, founded in 1819. The director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Murcia and professor of Art History of the University of Murcia, Cristóbal Belda, as well as experts will participate , relatives and friends of the Murcian painter, who will analyze the pictorial and literary work of Ramón Gaya.

This cultural meeting, whose registration process will remain open until October 10, will host conferences, round tables and the screening of 'La Serenissima', by Gonzalo Ballester, a finalist documentary at the Goya 2007 awards. 'The palette of the old painters' in Murcia

Likewise, the Ramón Gaya Museum will host the exhibition 'The palette of the old painters.

Ramón Gaya and the Prado Museum ', consisting of a series of paintings that honor the figure of the Murcian artist.

Its inauguration will be held this Wednesday.

On Thursday 10, the birth of the painter will be commemorated with a flamenco show in the Plaza de Santa Catalina.

On Tuesday 15, in addition, the museum will host a concert of classical music in honor of the artist.
