An Murcia student awarded in the international history contest for young people EUSTORY (05/10/2019)

A Murcia student from 2nd baccalaureate has been awarded in the XII edition of the international history contest for young people EUSTORY

The contest is held in parallel in 25 countries of the European continent and promotes “another way to learn” among high school and high school students

In his XII call he invited to investigate the Transition and has received projects from almost 200 students from Spain, Portugal and America.

Understanding how the change in the Transition was experienced without influence of everything we can know “a posteriori” is what led the Murcian student Guillermo Sánchez to undertake in the 2018-2019 academic year an investigation on the Transition with which to participate in the international competition of history for young EUSTORY.

An effort and determination to carry out the work, entitled "Journalism in the Spanish Transition", which has earned him recognition with a second prize in the XII contest.

The Jury has highlighted the capacity for debate, reflection and synthesis of Guillermo Sánchez Santiago, 2nd year high school student of the IES Floridabanca (Murcia), as well as the work of his tutor, Julián Navarro Melenchón.

The investigation reconstructs the reflection of the Transition in the press of the moment that, contrary to what the author thought at one time, did not delve into the division of the country and the political confrontation, but instead paddled in its entirety towards the same direction seeking “ a common land. "

The students and tutors awarded in the XII edition received their recognition at an awards ceremony held yesterday at the Royal Cavalry Masters of Ronda and chaired by Soledad Becerril Bustamante.

In addition to receiving a cash prize, they can participate in a week-long international history campus that will be held in a European capital in 2020.

Atypical in its approach, EUSTORY is held in parallel in 25 countries of the European continent and is distinguished by introducing students to scientific research and encouraging them to draw their own conclusions, leaving aside the mere description and memorization that often characterizes the Teaching history in our country.

In its twelfth edition, EUSTORY has had the participation of more than 200 secondary and high school students from Spain, Portugal and Latin America with research that, under the theme 'Transition', deepens the processes of rupture and continuity in that historical period , the strategies followed by the protagonists, and how they lived in the environment of the participants.
