The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, along with the Councilor for Seniors, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, presented this morning the I Club Slalom Murcia for athletes wheelchair users, electric or manual.
It is a sport modality, practiced by people with cerebral palsy, acquired brain damage or with physical disability, which consists of traveling in the shortest possible time and committing the least number of faults, a circuit composed of different obstacles.
“The objective is the practice of sport, healthy lifestyle habits and social skills, using as a medium a rather unknown modality that combines discipline, precision and speed on an element that most people are very difficult to handle, as is the wheelchair, ”says Felipe Coello.
Paqui Pérez says that "the City Council and the Department of Disability and Cooperation are fully available to the club for everything they need."
This club is open to any person, of any age, sex, race and condition of disability, where sports values ​​and companionship are worked through training sessions during the week and with an added goal, to present themselves to the annual national championship.
The club will schedule exhibitions in schools and at various sporting events, as well as training sessions open to both the general public and people with disabilities.
The City Council gives the club the sports facilities of the Javalí Viejo-La Ă‘ora pavilion for its weekly training, which will be held on Saturday mornings.
