The professor of Spanish Literature and Honorary Professor Emeritus of the University of Murcia, Francisco Javier Díez de Revenga, will participate next Friday, October 11, in a tribute to the Murcian Gonzalo Sobejano, professor at the University of Columbia in New York for more than 30 years, and considered one of the most relevant Hispanic in the world.
The tribute will be in charge of a group of friends and disciples of Sobejano, and is organized by the Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures and the Hispanic House of Columbia University in New York.
It will take place in the Pulitzer World Hall of the University of Columbia, and several friends and disciples of the Hispanicist will participate, among them Díez de Revenga, expressly invited by the organizers as a representative of the University of Murcia.
There is a circumstance that the UMU professor was Sobejano's godfather at the Honoris Causa doctorate that the university paid him 30 years ago.
The Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library says of Gonzalo Sobejano that "he is one of the most outstanding personalities of international Hispanicism, and one of the most respected critics of the contemporary novel."
