The event 'EnlazadODS', organized by the University of Murcia (UMU) in the framework of the project to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) called ODSessions, took Wednesday the Plaza de La Merced to carry out a human bond violet for the equality of an extension of more than 10,000 square meters.
In total, more than 2,000 people formed a large violet human tie, helped by thousands of balloons and t-shirts commemorating the event.
The loop departed from La Merced and extended to Antonete Gálvez Avenue.
With 'EnlazadODS' they start the activities of the 'SDG: 5: Gender Equality', which will be developed during the month of October in three faculties: Labor Sciences, Communication and Documentation and, finally, Law.
During this event, about a hundred of the most relevant women in the Region of Murcia were decorated, from sectors such as training, politics, business, art or communication.
The event featured live performances by the University Choir, Victoria Cava, Don Flúor, KUVE and Yana Zafiro.
In addition, during the act Concha Pando, representative of the Unit for Equality of the UMU, read a 'Manifesto for Equality', which was followed by a minute of silence in homage to the victims of gender violence.
More than 50 activities
From January 2019 to April 2021 SDG sessions dedicate each month to disseminate and organize activities about each of the 17 SDGs established by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda.
Thus, this initiative organizes until next October 31, 2019 more than 50 activities in the framework of 'SDG 5: Gender Equality'.
A program in which the students and professors of the affiliated faculties, dean teams, the Unit for Equality and NGOs have participated, as well as public and private institutions.
