The University of Murcia celebrated on Wednesday the fourth edition of the UMU - LA CAIXA Work Breakfasts under the motto 'Society and Culture: Innovation in Humanities'.

On this occasion, in addition to representatives of the University of Murcia and Caixabank, the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery of the City Council of Murcia, as well as representatives of the Restoration Center of the Region of Murcia, Intelligent Heritage , Cultura Connection, El Corte Inglés, Cajamurcia Foundation, Art-9 Gallery, The Red Chamber, San Juan de Dios Museum, Sons Of a Bit Entertainment, and Rubio & Del Amo Design.

Among other issues, the meeting addressed the challenges facing the culture and humanities sector, how jobs are evolving, how the strong incursion of technologies in the sector affects and what companies expect of the new graduates that are incorporated into the reality of the world of work.

Among the issues to consider, from the point of training, the need to incorporate certain training contents that allow scientific studies on works of art, new digital formats, collaboration with other scientific disciplines (chemical, computer ...) for the development of the digital Humanities, etc.

All this without forgetting the development of transversal skills and language proficiency.

It has been put in value that organizations and companies increasingly hire humanist profiles, due to society's demand to focus on people and their values.

Also the companies represented have asked for help from the University of Murcia to speed up the bureaucratic relations between the University and the companies when selecting students for the realization of practices and the possibility of carrying out specific collaborations.

But also the need to generate structures that promote the transfer in Humanities.
