The Book Fair opens with more than 40 booths and about thirty activities that combine music and lyrics (02/10/2019)

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, inaugurated this great cultural event, which will take place until October 6 on the promenade of Alfonso X. This afternoon will be the proclamation of the Fair.

The panoramicist Emilio Soler, known as 'El Corcho', will give the witness to the journalist Juan Tomás, in the Archaeological Museum of Murcia.

The Fair has exhibitors from all over Spain.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Minister of Education and Culture, Esperanza Moreno, opened this morning the Book Fair, which this year represents a deployment of about thirty cultural events, including exhibitions, recitals, presentations and signatures of books, colloquiums, round tables and workshops for the whole family.

"More than 55,000 people will visit this Fair, which will have an economic impact on the city of Murcia of 250,000 euros," said the mayor of Murcia, who added that "Murcia will become, for five days, in the capital of letters, from today until October 6, the day the Fair ends â€.

It is planned that more than 500 authors from different European countries and Latin America visit this Fair, which has a total of 43 booths and 38 exhibitors from all over Spain, ten more than in its previous edition.

Until October 6, it is estimated that about 15,000 books will be sold and that more than 600 children will participate in literary activities.

The event was attended by the Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, the General Director of Cultural Property, Rafael Gómez, the General Director of Cultural Property, Rafael Gómez, the Vice Chancellor for Quality, Culture and Communication of the University of Murcia, Francisco Javier Martínez, the president of the Palin association, Asensio Piqueras, as well as representatives of the CajaMurcia Foundation, ONCE and El Corte Inglés.

The Fair has been organized by the City of Murcia, in collaboration with the Palin association and the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Pregón, cinema and round tables

This evening, at 6 pm, the official proclamation of the Book Fair will be held.

The panoramicist Emilio Soler, known as 'El Corcho', will give the witness to the journalist Juan Tomás, official preacher of the Fair.

This event will take place at the Archaeological Museum of Murcia.

At 7:00 pm, the Book Murciano 2018 prize will be awarded to the writer Miguel Ángel Hernández, for his work 'The pain of others', in the Paraninfo of the University of Murcia.

At 7:30 p.m., the Paco Rabal de Murcia Film Library will host the round table 'A Region of cinema', which will focus on the current state of cinema in the Region of Murcia.

The filmmakers Alfonso Albacete and Juan Albarracín, film and theater director Joaquín Gómez, and actor Enrique Martínez will participate.

This colloquium will be moderated by the writer Cristóbal Terrer.

Today will also be the screening of 'I will survive', a work directed by the filmmaker Alfonso Albacete, which deals with the imperfection of life.

The activity will be held at the Paco Rabal Film Library in Murcia, at 10 pm.

'Printed dialogues' in the Artistic Laboratory of Carmen

Yesterday, on the occasion of the beginning of the Fair, the exhibition 'Printed Dialogues' was inaugurated, in which 30 renowned artists participated.

The exhibition, consisting of paintings, sculptures and photographs, will remain open until October 31 at the Artistic Laboratory of Carmen (LAC).

More than 20 book presentations

In this edition, the Fair will host more than 20 book presentations, as well as musical events and workshops.

Most activities will feature sign language interpreters.

The Artistic Laboratory of Carmen (LAC), Archaeological Museum of Murcia, Assembly Hall of Las Claras, Caja Murcia Foundation, University of Murcia and Julián Romea Square, which will host a concert with five grand pianos and percussion instruments this coming Saturday , are some of the scenarios in which the activities will be developed.

Alfonso X's walk invites reading

For the first time, the Fair has five reading points, distributed along the Alfonso X promenade, with the aim of inviting visitors to read and talk about reading.

In addition, the ONCE is also present in this great cultural event, as it has a booth that houses books, stories with textures, maps, pictures, games, computer with adaptations, as well as different reading modes.

Tomorrow, in addition, at 11 am, the round table 'Other ways of reading' will be held, in the Archaeological Museum, whose central theme will be the access of blind people to information, in which a typhotechnic instructor -expert will participate in material for the blind and visually impaired - and a Braille specialist.
