The 'Vial Week' returns with a score of activities to reduce the accident rate (01/10/2019)

The collaboration between the Association of Driving Schools of the Region of Murcia (Aramur) and the City of Murcia, through the Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth, will allow one more year the celebration of the 'Vial Week', a unique event in Europe for road safety.

Its fourth edition will take place from October 4 to 14, 2019, and aims to reduce road accidents 'in itinere', that is, those traffic accidents that the worker suffers when going or returning to the workplace, as well as 'on mission' accidents, referring to the displacements made by workers outside the company facilities during their working day.

In addition, this event seeks to remember the rules of movement between pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, promote risk perception and self-care on all roads.

In short, it is a week full of different activities related to road safety and the agents involved.

Since its birth, 'Vial Week' stands out for being a nomadic event, and this year it will celebrate its activities at Finca Buenavista, the Garden of Fame - known as 'the one of the dogs', next to Alfonso X Avenue - Plano San Francisco, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters, the Espinardo Campus, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters, Alcantarilla Air Base, the Sangonera Penitentiary Center and, finally, the Cartagena Speed ​​Circuit.

The Provincial Chief of Traffic of Murcia, Virginia Jerez, will be responsible for opening on Friday, October 4 at 11 am in the hall of celebrations of the restaurant Finca Buenavista of El Palmar this new edition of 'Vial Week'.

Subsequently, it will be the turn of the road safety expert of the CNAE Foundation Roberto Ramos, collaborator of the TVE1 television program 'Vital Safety' and 'Arranca en verde'.

This edition will once again count on the participation of the executive director of the most important road safety institution in Europe, the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC).

Antonio Avenoso will present 'Road safety in the European Union: ranking of countries and new objectives'.

At the same time, the road training sector in Europe will also be analyzed by the Secretary General of the European Driving School Association, Manuel Picardi.

Workshops and drills

From the youngest to the oldest, as well as institutions and companies, they are invited to a set of activities for the road good of citizenship in the urban area of ​​Murcia.

For all this, workshops and drills will be held as the 'Experiences on wheels' conducted by the Civil Guard, Local Police, firefighters and health services about how the devices for alcohol and drug detection, radars, roadside assistance and performance with injured.

Mock-up releases for traffic accidents trapped in the vehicle will also be conducted.

The teachers of the driving schools associated with Aramur will teach free classes about 'Roundabouts, how to circulate correctly', there will be 'Courses of efficient driving', 'Courses of change of wheel and placement of chains' and, for the youngest ones, the activity 'Learning to be drivers', where bicycles and tricycles will be used in a closed circuit.

In the garden of Fame there will also be a rollover simulator, special glasses simulating the effects of alcohol, cannabis and fatigue, days on safe driving by bike and driving tests of electric and hybrid vehicles.

Cycle route

On Sunday, October 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the cycle route 'For road safety' will be held, which will depart from the Spanish Roundabout.

Participants will take a tour of the main streets and the orchard of Murcia, promoting safe driving in a resort of 19 kilometers.

On Monday, October 7, 'Vial Week' will reach professionals.

From 12 to 14 hours in the Provincial Headquarters of Traffic will be held a 'Training Conference for Aramur professionals', which promotes the recycling of Murcia teachers by Roberto Ramos.

One of the main novelties of this edition will arrive on Tuesday, October 8, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Alcantarilla Air Base.

Theoretical-practical training will be given that will affect those factors that cause the majority of accidents, with different simulators and activities that help reduce road accidents both 'in itínere' and 'on mission'.

As a novelty, on Wednesday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., this project will arrive at the Sangonera la Verde Penitentiary Center, through a training and awareness day for offenders.

Specifically, a theoretical-practical day will be held with inmates about risk factors directly related to accidents.

As every year, there will be an awareness campaign for young people of school age and institutes, through projections, rollover and driving simulators.

While on October 14 from 18 to 20 hours 'Vial Week' will arrive at the Circuit of Speed ​​of Cartagena, where under the motto 'Blind at the wheel' the ONCE, together with the teachers of Aramur, will give the opportunity to blind people to get to the steering wheel of vehicles in closed circuit.

This event counts as a sponsor with Grupo Marcos Automoción, as well as the collaborators ONCE, ASPAYM Murcia, DGT and CNAE Foundation.

It should be noted that 'Vial Week' will have two information points in October in the urban area of ​​Murcia, one located in Plaza Santo Domingo and another on Avenida de la Libertad - in front of El Corte Inglés.
